What you'll do:
The Autobody Mechanic has a key role is delivering a safe and quality repair. This technician is part of the initial inspection/blue printing process. Will provide various services to include consulting with the repair planners, and perform diagnostics scans to diagnose, recommend, and perform repairs including steering and suspension, cooling systems, HVAC, SRS, interior trim, ETC. Our Autobody Mechanics are industry leaders and master repairers who possesses the ability to teach, mentor and lead a small team, including apprentices / helper technicians.
Responsibilities:
Complete pre and post scans
Recommend needed repairs as per diagnostic report, and physical damage to Advanced Safety Systems (ADAS), restraint systems (SRS), mechanical components, and additional electrical components
Complete basic and advanced physical repairs to damaged vehicles, including but not limited to, passenger airbags, wire repairs, full interior jobs, dashboards and steering columns, fuse box repairs, Advanced Aftermarket products, mechanical systems and components
Directs the work of an apprentice in the performance of tasks when needed, i.e., unusual problems or questions and explains procedures to assistant
Test drive vehicles, test components and systems using equipment such as computerized diagnostic devices.
Repair and/or replace engine components, brake systems, steering and airbag systems.
Repair, reline, replace and adjust brake systems and perform vehicle alignments
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure an efficient and effective repair.
Participates in all required safety meetings
Requirements:
Ability to read and interpret OEM repair procedure and service information
Ability to supervise Apprentice personnel.
Must be able to pass thorough background check.
Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time and be able to walk, bend, push/pull, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch frequently
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Some travel between OTRG locations is expected
Self-motivated, high energy and a customer-focused perspective
Time management and effective communication skills
In depth understanding of automotive industry and various manufacturer acronyms and lingo
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to effectively communicate with customers at all levels
Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office
Must be willing to continue with professional development and earn company designated certifications
Must have a valid driver’s license
