JOB TITLE: Events and Special Projects Intern

Supervisor: Events Manager

Hours: 10-15 hours/week (January - August)

GOAL: To advance the mission of Central Ohio Youth for Christ by creating and sustaining champions of the ministry. This is accomplished by helping with the planning, coordinating, and executing of transformational events that highlight how God changes the lives of students we serve.

KEY OBJECTIVES:

  • Responsible to assist with all annual development events: STS Tours, Be the Story (BTS), Over the Edge (OTE), Youth Guidance Golf Marathon (YGGM)
  • Responsible to assist in creating and executing new Micro Events to engage new donors and volunteers
  • Responsible to participate in Development team meetings and COYFC staff meetings
  • Responsible to assist with donor and volunteer data management and other special projects assigned by the Development Director and Events Manager
  • Responsible to fulfill staff spiritual responsibilities


SPECIFIC DUTIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

See the Story and Be the Story Events (May 18, 2022)

  • Assist with recruitment, training, communication and appreciation of Table Captains (new and returning)
  • Provide any needed event support day-of and following the event
  • Ensure all print media and supplies are available for STS tours
  • Ensure pre-post STS/BTS SOPs are followed for registration and follow up
  • Create content for a monthly newsletter to communicate with table captains


Over the Edge (June 17, 2022)

  • Assist with all communications (social media/calls/emails/texts) & other creative strategies to recruit new and returning rappellers and volunteers
  • Create content for Edger to regularly communicate with sponsors, rappellers and volunteers
  • Coordinate day-of and post-event logistics including: food & equipment pickups, deliveries, set-up & clean up of "Stations" materials and special guest/mascots, appearances 
  • Attend committee meetings as needed


Micro Events

  • Participate in the creation and execution of new micro events to help new donors and volunteers more deeply engage with our mission


Youth Guidance Golf Marathon (September 2022)

  • Assist golfers to set up fundraising pages and help them manage off-line donations 
  • Assist with company sponsorships and logo management on website


Development Team Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly Development Team meetings 
  • Attend quarterly COYFC All-Staff meetings
  • Represent COYFC at other potential community events as needed


Data Management

  • Enter all relevant event data in Donor Perfect following established SOPs
  • Update or create all event SOPs to continually improve and streamline execution of events and data management


Spiritual Responsibilities

Because COYFC, its affiliates and subsidiaries are a part of the same faith-based organization and share a faith mission and set of values, we require all employees to consistently apply and live according to the religious mission and theological beliefs. Each staff member, regardless of role, is asked to:

  • Articulate and uphold COYFC religious beliefs and practices at work and outside of work
  • Each employee serves to represent the religious message and mission of COYFC (as outlined in the Statement of Faith and Mission) to the broader community
  • Regularly pray for and share spiritual content with existing and prospective donors to COYFC 


Skill Requirements

  • Attention to detail and timeliness
  • Ability to work beyond 20 hours/week around event dates. (Other weeks will be less than 15 hours to accommodate this requirement.)
  • Experience in event coordination preferred
  • Accommodating and flexible disposition with a strong work ethic
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as contribute to a team environment
  • Exhibit passion for the mission of YFC; agreement with Statements of Faith and Conduct
