Director of Business Intelligence Position Summary

The Director of Business Intelligence is responsible for setting the strategic direction and managing the operations of the Data team. This role involves driving the development and implementation of data strategies that support business decision-making processes, enhancing data-driven decision-making across the organization.

 

What You’ll Be Doing as the Director of Business Intelligence

  • Define and lead the business intelligence strategy to support top-level business goals, integrating data resources across the organization to deliver enhanced insights and improved decision-making capabilities.
  •  Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of business intelligence (BI) tools and systems, including data warehousing, reporting, and analytics platforms.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the design and deployment of analytical systems that transform raw data into actionable business insights.
  • Collaborate with senior management to understand corporate objectives and develop data solutions that contribute to these goals.
  • Manage and mentor the Data team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and maintain robust data governance frameworks to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data across the enterprise.
  • Drive innovation in data analytics by keeping abreast of industry trends and advancements in BI technology.
  • Develop and control the budget for the Data department, ensuring resources are appropriately allocated and managed.
  • Liaise with IT and business teams to ensure integration and alignment of BI technologies with enterprise IT strategy.
  • Communicate insights and strategic recommendations to senior management, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Observe appropriate confidentiality in working with sensitive data/information from both internal/external sources.
  • Comply with all Federal, State, accreditation and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Consistently meet company and department policies and expectations including those surrounding attendance.
  • Exhibit exceptional internal and external customer service with all people with whom they work.

        What You'll Bring to the Team as a Director of Business Intelligence

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a business intelligence role, with a minimum of 5 years in a management or leadership position.
  • Extensive experience with BI tools and systems (e.g., SAP BI, Oracle BI, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, QlikSense).
  • Demonstrated expertise in data engineering, business intelligence software development, and systems integration.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing BI strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and develop a diverse team.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence various stakeholders and senior executives.
  • Experience in change management and driving business transformation through data.

  • Pay range of $150,000 - $170,000 annually, DOE
