Manager, Pool Operations position will lead the team responsible for the planning and execution of Pool Operations. The manager coordinates inventory control, repositioning, and vendor management programs necessary to meet customers’ and pool requirements. Develop, implement, and maintain standardized chassis operations and logistics processes, workflows, communications, data, analysis, metrics, and reports, while controlling costs within the network. The manager will liaise with Field Operations and HQ Operations teams with a timely assessment of operating parameters, identify strategic and tactical operational challenges and opportunities, create pool operating budgets, and develop, communicate, and implement recommended operational responses and plans to optimize outcomes in terms of utilization, cost, and service.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Chassis Logistics

a) Lead team to gather, record, and analyze customer supply/demand forecast data for each pool chassis depot/supply point

b) Combine demand and supply data to optimize the pool chassis fleet with a holistic understanding of the adequacy of chassis inventory to predict surplus and deficit conditions with sufficient lead time to take action to mitigate adverse cost and service impact

c) Evaluate and recommend action plans to address pool inventory issues

d) Implement and monitor the execution of action plans including necessary intervention as needed to ensure success

e) Develop and maintain KPIs and trend pool performance data

f) Manage and collect customer-specific information to help FV implement Container/Chassis marriage activities

g) Collaborate with functional areas including Business Intelligence, IT, Finance, and Commercial to deliver best-in-class service

Vendor Management

a) Develop and maintain strong and productive relationships with vendors

b) Manage operations by monitoring the performance of vendors, including facility, M&R, transportation, rail, and chassis suppliers

c) Conduct audits of product quality, billing accuracy, and other related items in line with service level agreements

Data Integrity

a) Monitor data integrity related to on-hire, off-hire, and interchange transactions (e.g. validate gate transactions, manage exceptions, correct errors)

Regulatory Compliance

a) Maintain compliance with UIIA guidelines

b) Monitor regulatory inspection levels

c) Develop and maintain compliance data and reporting

Operational and customer reporting

a) Maintain master matrix of all cost factors to be considered by location/pool, including drays, storage, maintenance and repair, gate fees, etc.

b) Ensure accurate and timely data gathering, data integrity, analysis, and reporting

KPI and performance metrics

a) Produce required metrics related to utilization, performance, data integrity, cost, and billing Other Duties as assigned

 

Job Specifications

Minimum Education / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience

• 5 years of working experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain

• Supervisory experience preferred

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Office 365 suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, SharePoint

• Microsoft Excel – the ability to create worksheets, charts/graphs, data tables, pivot tables

• PowerPoint – the ability to create PowerPoint slides, insert graphics/images/shapes, animate slides

Other Preferred Skills:

• Prior working experience in GPS technologies

• Prior working experience in the Intermodal/Shipping domain
