Purpose/Summary:

Under supervision of the VP of West Coast Sales, performs a variety of administrative and sales functions in support of the company’s marketing efforts throughout the region including the tracking, investigating, and reporting of sales related activity.  The successful candidate will play an integral role in achieving the firm’s ambitious customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

o    Sources new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calling and email contact.

o    Develops and maintains relationships with current and prospective customers in order to address their needs and requirements.

o    Maintains rapport with key accounts through regular contact including site visits to better understand specific needs and anticipate new opportunities.

o    Provides product, promotion and pricing information per customer request, answering inquiries, selecting and forwarding appropriate material.

o    Finalizes sales agreements according to established targets and goals.

o    Research accounts, identifies key decision makers in order to generate interest in company products and services.

o    Maintain and develop a database of prospects within assigned territory.

o    Teams with channel partners to build the opportunity pipeline and close deals.

o    Maintain customer database in SalesForce (SF) ensuring customer profile and all related fields are current.  

o    Routes qualified opportunities to appropriate sales executives for further development and closure.

o    Prepares and distributes monthly reports.

o    Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and industry related programs.

 

Position Specifications:

Education and Experience

o    Minimum 1 to 3 years of professional experience in the maritime logistics or motor carrier industry.

o    Functional experience: sales customer service related functions.

o    Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution: preferred majors include business administration, maritime, international transportation, marketing / communications.

o    Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a TWIC card and eRail pass.

Technical Skills and Competencies Required:

o    Some professional selling training and the ability to communicate effectively with customers.

o    Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively

o    Ability to collect, organize and analyze data and to summarize conclusions and recommendations succinctly.

o    Excellent written and oral communication skills.

o    Advanced competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.

o    Ability to learn and apply new systems to our business processes, e.g. a new CRM, a new contract management system.

Learning Description:

o    Understand key aspects of FlexiVan’s business; pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, anticipate opportunities and risks, identify issues and develop strategies and plans.

o    Gain perspectives from customers and vendors as to their view of the market and corresponding factors impacting the chassis business,

Travel Requirements:  Mostly regional with only occasional, intermittent overnight travel.
