Function:

In support of regional field Operations, this role interfaces directly with vendors and customers to manage the contractual responsibilities, SOP’s, service quality and delivery, audits of equipment and services, negotiate the resolution of issues and complaints, ensure regulatory compliance, analyze and evaluate operations, and prepare applicable reports and information.

 

Purpose/Summary:

Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, this position works with Corporate functional and process owners, depots, and vendors to provide our customers with safe, reliable equipment, in full compliance with FMCSA regulations and Flexi-Van policies. This role operates across a local area or region to ensure equipment and services meet company operating SOP’s, regulatory and safety requirements, and quality and performance metrics. This role will direct the work of vendors and subcontractors, negotiate and enact resolution of issues, guide and advise on SLA’s, apply and improve on operating procedures, and analyze information and processes to recommend improvements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

o    Manages and ensures operational activities fulfill KPIs and vendor SLA’s within the context of company contracts and standards.

o    Responsible for guidance, oversight and advisement to vendor management for contract compliance, adherence to terms and services, and resolution of both routine and complex issues.

o    Expected to regularly evaluate vendor services and quality and prepare reports on recommended courses of action and plans to Flexi-Van upper management.

o    Directly manages and controls M&R costs for chassis, generates analytical information and reporting to support cost reduction initiatives, and is directly involved in purchasing, and obtaining necessary materials and supplies.

o    Expected to work with the top/key Corporate functional and process owners to manage and ensure proper inventory levels and smooth flow of chassis within the region.

o    Will serve as the key liaison between company vendors and Flexi-Van leadership to effectively resolve complex issues and operational challenges as they arise.

o    Reports and communicates with multiple process owners regarding inspections, repairs, inventory management, fulfillment of contracts terms and SLA’s, safety, and operating SOP’s and KPI’s.

o    Manages the audit, modification, and approval of repair estimates for managed vendors.

o    Directly conducts periodically required vendor audits (in accordance with contract terms), reports on findings and variances, and conducts follow-up at the Depots and other locations as assigned to ensure Flexi-Van standards are maintained. Provides feedback and recommended courses of action to vendors and Flexi-Van Senior management.

Position Specifications & Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience

o    High-school diploma or equivalent. 

o    Minimum 2 year’s Intermodal experience both chassis M&R and operations, strong knowledge of industry.

o    Ability to obtain and maintain an IICL Chassis Inspector Certification

o    Must be able to obtain a c and qualify for ERailSafe credentials

 

Technical Skills and Competencies Required:

o    Must possess a valid Driver’s License

o    Strong leadership skills; ability to clearly provide guidance to vendors and negotiate resolutions.

o    Excellent written and oral communication skills.

o    Strong organization skills.

o    Familiarity with FMCSA, DOT and IICL regulations.

o    Must be able to perform “walk-around” inspection of chassis, as well as using a crawler to check brakes and axles as required.

o    On an infrequent basis, must be able to lift and move truck tires (approx. 40 lbs.)

o    Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

o    Flexibility to quickly adapt to change and tolerance with ambiguity.

o    Excellent attention to detail.

o    Must be able to multi-task and work independently.

 

Travel Requirements: Mostly regional with only occasional, intermittent overnight travel.

 

Education Level:   High-school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree desired.  IICL certification.
