Purpose/Summary:

 

Purpose/Summary: Incumbent will lead a team of Managers overseeing Third-party Chassis Depots, Repair Facilities, and Rail yards. Incumbent will be accountable to the Regional Director, and be responsible for independently maintaining vendor relationships, cost accountability, data integrity and facilitating corporate strategy. 

Key Responsibilities:

o    Leads and holds a team of managers accountable for daily operation and MNR activities in the Area.

o    Creates Area budget, controls spend, monitors monthly BvA, and explains variances.

o    Works with Fleet Operations Team to ensure proper chassis inventory levels are kept at pool and start/stop locations.

o    Works with Business Intelligence Team to develop and maintain reporting for operational and MNR activities in the area.  Leverages information to implement cost savings and/or productivity initiatives and continuous improvements.

o    Develops, monitors, and accountable for delivery of KPIs for respective Area.

o    Conducts periodic visits at local MTOs and 3rd Party facilities in the Area to ensure that all Operations and M&R issues are being addressed and that SLAs are enforced. Provides detailed written reports of any problems to Senior Leadership

o    Monitors and reports daily activities and inventory levels at local MTOs and 3rd Party facilities timely.  Investigates and addresses productivity and data integrity issues as needed at these facilities.

o    Ensures inspection/repair standards are communicated to vendors and adhered to on all equipment repairs.

o    Assists in selecting new repair/parts vendors when required within the area with Procurement Team.

o    Coordinates off-hire and scrap chassis programs with MTOs and 3rd party facilities.

o    Provides managerial support when needed at proprietary depots and service centers.


Experience:


o    Minimum of 5 years of Operations or MNR experience, including supervision of staff.


 o    Technical skills and Competencies Required:


o    Must be able to work with multiple computer systems as it relates to chassis tracking and recording repair estimates and invoices.


o    Must be good at working with multiple vendors, both parts and service.


o    Must be able to understand technical specifications and requirements for equipment maintenance and repairs.


o    Must be skilled at understanding Federal, state, local and any other applicable laws, regulations and rules as applies to employees, equipment repairs, and facilities.


o    Strong organizational skills.


o    Strong analytical skills.


o    Competency working with Excel and Word.


o    Strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to interpret and explain reports and information for direct reports.


o    Must proactive and self-sufficient in the role as it relates to day-to-day operations and management.


o    Must have attention to detail and ability to read and interpret analytical reports and data.


o    Ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements.


 Travel Requirements:


Mostly local, within a 75-mile radius of the regional office. Occasional out of town travel for company meetings, special assignments that may require overnight or longer stays away from the normal workplace.



 Education Level:


Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
