POSITION – Assistant Residential Engineer - Civil, starting January 2024.

LOCATION – Reporting to the Engineer of Construction for New Jersey Airports. The position will be at Newark Liberty International Airport and or Teterboro Airport.

SCOPE – Manage the scope of work, schedule, contractor’s field procedures and construction problems, and other technical information for the successful delivery of projects within budget and schedule. Work generally pertains to airport and building concrete work, civil site work, paving work, drainage systems, structural, and maintenance of traffic, with some electrical, environmental, and plumbing knowledge.

REQUIREMENTS – Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Verbal communication includes speaking with the Engineer of Construction, other contract staff, facility staff, contractors, project design engineers, and client representatives both in person via two-way communications. Ability to read and interpret plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work. Identify potential extra work issues and keep the Engineer of Construction and all stakeholders advised of potential issues. Review plans for constructability and prepare comments. Ability to conduct preconstruction and construction progress meetings, coordinate multiple work locations, perform special inspections throughout the construction process, and coordinate for quality assurance inspection of completed work. Ability to actively coordinate between private business entities at EWR and TEB, and the various departments within the facility to successfully complete construction work. Verify safety procedures are maintained. Coordinate contractor's work with the Facility as needed.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited college or University.

• Minimum 10 years of experience managing construction work, varied in size (projects ranging from $500K to $5 million plus) and complexity (multiple crew and crew sizes per shift).

• Valid driver’s license required and ability to obtain a high SWAC clearance and SIDA badge.

• OSHA 30-hour certification required.

• In addition to night and weekend shift work, ability to stay late or come i early as needed. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word / Excel and Outlook. DESIRABLE

• Professional Engineer. • Aeronautical construction experience.

• ICC/NICET Level 3 Asphalt or Highway Construction; ACI Concrete Special Inspector; and Work Zone Safety Certifications are desirable.
