Position Overview

The Director of Risk Engineering is responsible for managing N2G’s risk engineering portfolio, to include assisting underwriters on the facilitation of multinational business. The Director will be responsible for reviewing large and complex referrals and will participate in business development and marketing initiatives.  The Director of Risk Engineering is also responsible for in-house desktop reviews for property and casualty lines of business and for building a profitable portfolio by assisting underwriters in the appropriate selection and structuring of complex global risks.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for the overall effectiveness of Company risk engineering portfolio
  • Subject matter expert for property and casualty engineering
  • Conduct in-house desktop reviews for property and casualty lines
  • Serving as the primary liaison with carriers for all site surveys and reviews
  • Tracking and successfully closing loss control recommendations by working closely with brokers/insureds on a regular basis
  • Update underwriters on outstanding recommendations for renewal pricing and risk appetite
  • Coordinating, guiding, training and assisting the underwriting staff through expert guidance and problem solving
  • Participating in tool development and online platform tracking of requests
  • Monitoring exposure accumulation for individual product lines
  • Participating in the creation of business strategies by providing information on trends and results
  • Supporting the annual production and profitability set by the Company
  • Providing timely and accurate feedback to company leadership to promote execution of a successful business plan
  • Attending meetings with regional teams, brokers and clients
  • Identifying and proposing the implementation of new products and services to achieve competitive advantage or increase efficiency in internal processes
  • Effectively liaising with leaders to ensure proper resource interaction necessary to support the product line
  • Be available for in-person account stewardship meetings, requiring some travel for the position

 

 

 

Experience And Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced degree and/or risk engineering certifications preferred
  • Preferred majors: risk management and insurance, economics, business, engineering
  • A minimum of ten years of insurance experience within the industry
  • Robust Risk Engineering experience with complex and large accounts, preferably for multinational risks in the middle market space
  • Underwriting experience with complex and large accounts is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic communication skills
  • Excellent digital skills
  • Self-motivated, independent, and proactive
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Lateral thinker with a creative and inventive approach to problems and issues
