Company Description:

CorMedix Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing therapeutic products for the prevention and treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases. Our Company is focused on developing its lead investigational drug product, Defencath™, a novel, antimicrobial and antifungal solution designed to prevent catheter-related bloodstream infections (“CRBSIs) in patients with end-stage renal disease receiving hemodialysis through a central venous catheter. Recently, the Company submitted the New Drug Application (NDA) for Defencath™ to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Future research and NDA’s submissions may include indications for similar infectious outcomes in oncology, ICU, and patients receiving total parenteral nutrition (TPN).

Position:

The Director/ Sr. Director Public Policy and Government Relations will be the lead for developing and executing public policy and government relations activities to pursue optimal reimbursement and encourage innovation aligned with CorMedix indications (renal, infectious disease, oncology, etc). Serve as the lead point of contact with relevant HHS agencies, particularly CMS and White House (including OMB, CBC, Kidney Caucus, etc) leadership on payment, coverage, and reimbursement policy issues. Provide strategic direction for the development and execution of comprehensive U.S Policy & Government Affairs (USPGA) advocacy and Shape and drive above-brand policy advocacy aligned with CorMedix commercial priorities.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Relationship-building with policymakers from non-HHS Executive Branch agencies may be required on issues impacting CorMedix priorities.
  • Directs development of comprehensive, proactive above-brand policy strategies for deployment by USPGA Federal Government Affairs and Strategic Alliance teams
  • Oversees collaboration and strategy with USPGA teams and commercial cross-functional partners (including Value Access, Medical Affairs, etc.)
  • Leads development, prioritization and implementation of strategic business and advocacy strategies to address evolving policy and payment changes.
  • Directs development and updates to position statements and other written materials for policy advocacy and education of internal stakeholders on evolving healthcare policy landscape, IRA, Medicare Part B and D, 340B, NTAP and TDAPA reform.
  • Responsible for strategic direction of briefing materials for executive meetings with Executive Branch agencies and trade association board meetings (BIO, KCP, Patient and Provider Advocacy)
  • Works to optimize portfolio access and mitigate risk in response to the rapidly evolving U.S. payer landscape and policy changes.
  • Collaborates in the development and implementation of strategies designed to secure coverage and reimbursement for products supporting business objectives and including multi-lateral organizations.
  • Oversees USPGA responses to notice and comment opportunities from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other Executive Branch agencies.
  • Identifies opportunities for Executive Branch engagement on CorMedix priorities.
  • This position will report directly to the Chief Commercial with a dotted line of reporting into the VP Value and Access
  • Prepare budget, manage external consultants, and exhibit a high level of financial acumen including management of an external team of policy professionals as well as consultants.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 10 or more years’ experience in public policy and government relations in a trade association, government, or business.
  • People management experience (managing a team of 4-5 people).
