Company Description:

CorMedix Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing therapeutic products for the prevention and treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases. Our Company is focused on developing its lead investigational drug product, Defencath™, a novel, antimicrobial and antifungal solution designed to prevent catheter-related bloodstream infections (“CRBSIs) in patients with end-stage renal disease receiving hemodialysis through a central venous catheter. Recently, the Company submitted the New Drug Application (NDA) for Defencath™ to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Future research and NDA’s submissions may include indications for similar infectious outcomes in oncology, ICU, and patients receiving total parenteral nutrition (TPN).

Position:

CorMedix seeks a National Access Director who will report to the Vice President, Market Access. This position will build and nurture corporate account relationships and key access decision-makers across Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payer segments that optimizes appropriate coverage and patient access for Cormedix products. This includes development and implementation of compliant and effective strategic and tactical plans for assigned accounts. This is a field-based position with occasional travel to our CorMedix New Jersey office.
 

Primary Responsibilities: ​

  • Responsible for National and Regional commercial and Medicare Advantage payers within geography, as well as Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), State Medicaid Agencies, VA/DOD, and various other target accounts as defined by CorMedix leadership.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute strategic account business plans for optimum product positioning and access within each assigned payer account.
  • Establish and maintain positive business relationships with payer account key decision makers and Influencers to ensure appropriate coverage, coding, reimbursement, and access.
  • Review and analyze product performance as it relates to assigned payer accounts.
  • Support the launch planning process for Defencath™ products within assigned payer accounts.
  • Educate Sales, Marketing, and other key internal stakeholders, as appropriate, on assigned payer account coverage policies.
  • Proactively identify potential marketplace trends/barriers within targeted accounts as well as overall payer landscape and reactively respond to any identified reimbursement, coverage issues, and market access challenges
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with Sales leadership and teams on pull-through activities for assigned payer accounts.
  • Support Sales, Marketing, and key internal functions by providing expert consultation on payer specifics business issues.
  • Assist in providing insight into the development of patient access and reimbursement marketing support materials.
  • Ensure Reimbursement team has the required knowledge to support effective and timely provider reimbursement.
  • Ensure alignment and high proactive levels of communication and collaboration with all account resources.
  • Establish strong internal relationships and provide on-going clear communication to ensure positive access positions among assigned payers and support pull-through efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with Key Account Directors who will focus primarily on corporate dialysis providers, to ensure product alignment and optimize Defencath™ sales performance.
  • Operate in full compliance to all applicable laws/regulations and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Up to 75% domestic travel for this position is anticipated. This position will not have direct reports as per the initial CorMedix launch planning for Defencath™.

 

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bring an established network within key specialty/full line distributors
  • Have a solid and current knowledge of US distribution trends
  • Be clinically savvy with a demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate new clinical information.
  • Ability to clearly articulate the value proposition of Defencath™
  • It is essential for the candidate to be prepared to work in a small, pre-commercial company where roles are broadly and at times loosely defined.
  • Be a communicator and a team player. Be superb at managing relationships both internally and externally.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize across competing priorities while managing stakeholder needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in life sciences, business, or marketing from an accredited college/university.
  • 10+ years of biotech/pharma experience in major payer account leadership.
  • Have experience in senior-level account management, with a track record of building strong working relationships within different organized customers.
  • Have substantial experience in medical benefit reimbursement in capitated environments (dialysis, inpatient settings, etc…).
  • Recent Buy and Bill product launch experience, successfully overcoming access barriers (unlisted C/J code, no coverage policy at launch, etc.)
  • Prior experience in fields of dialysis, nephrotic diseases, and/or oncology a plus.
  • Expertise in HCPCS, CPT, and ICD-10-CM coding and medical benefit product policy and reimbursement
  • Proven teamwork and collaboration skills with a demonstrated track record navigating highly matrixed, cross-functional work teams comprised of high-level managers and executives.
  • Analyzes and uses qualitative and quantitative data and incorporates understanding into decision criteria.
  • In-depth knowledge of Managed Care, Government, and Federal payer sectors
  • Understanding CMS requirements and process for product coverage
  • Competent with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.
