Position Overview 

The Solution Center is the one-stop shop for student support, designed to help students persist and successfully complete their degree programs. The Center networks with all areas of student concerns, including academic advising, financial aid, veterans’ benefits, academic support, counseling and support services, and student accounts. The Representative assists students in locating their needs, providing support as needed, and connecting students to specialized services. The Solution Center Representative reports directly to the President and assists students both remotely and in persons at our campus. You will also provide support to our sister’s school, Bay State College, in Boston, MA. 

 

Responsibilities 

    • Resolve student's problems and issues and answer questions. 
      • Student advising - prepare and review course choices with the Director, ensuring pre-requisites have been met, facilitate schedule changes, meet with new students to help with Canvas/book ordering, e-mail set-up, etc. 
      • Promote self- service tools among students, including web-based resources and the Student Portal. 
      • Coordinate student appointments and protect the confidentiality of student records and files within the Boston Solution Center. 
      • Undergo regular training on various aspects of student support with the Director of Student Accounts. 
      • Student retention – regular and timely calls, texts, and e-mails to at-risk students. Monitor progress on Canvas for all at-risk students to promote regular attendance. Reach out to instructors for student's progress reports when necessary. 
      • Assist students in ensuring that transcripts are accurate and up to date to keep on track for graduation. 
        • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned. 


        Qualifications 

        • Bachelor's Degree.  
        • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.  
        • Exceptional customer service is a must.
        • Ability to take initiative and creatively solve problems. 
        • Experience advising an adult student population.
        • Must commit to following issues through to completion and to the satisfaction of the student.
        • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. 
        • Computer skills - MS Word/ Excel. 

         

        Working Conditions 

        • Normal office conditions. Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves the operation of computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as necessary.  
        • Must be available to work a flexible schedule. 
        • Travel is primarily local during the business day. May require travel to other locations occasionally.
