GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is available for the Fall 2022 for the 2022-2023 academic year - Reporting to the Librarian, the Student Library Assistant helps with daily library operations, assists patrons in the use of library resources and equipment, and supports engagement with the campus community. This person is sometimes assigned to supervise the library in the absence of the Librarian.

 

ESSENTIAL DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Prepare social media posts, videos, bulletin boards, and displays to promote library services and activities;

·        Monitor library email;

·        Provide basic reference support as needed, in research, access, database searching techniques, and full text retrieval;

·        Troubleshoot basic resource access and printing issues;

·        Loan and return books and materials to library patrons;

·        Place reserves on requested books;

·        Empty book drops, check in and shelve library materials;

·        Open and close the library as needed;

·        Maintain the orderly appearance of the library;

·        Monitor library usage;

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position may perform other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Librarian.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled student at the NewSchool of Architecture and Design.

Pay Range: $18.00 / hr

Hours: 10 / wk

Days: Flexible around class schedule.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment, but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels.
  • Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting , e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary.
