Luminus is looking for a self-motivated, automotive experienced and detail-oriented Sr. Development Quality Engineer. The responsibility includes ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of automotive LED products from technology concept through mass production. This role focuses on early risk identification, supplier & materials selection & quality control, robust quality planning, and compliance with automotive standards (IATF 16949, AEC-Q102) to ensure zero-defect mindset and safe, reliable products for automotive applications. The product & process development will be conducted by the internal development team and release to Control Manufacturing (CM) upon the initial equipment and process are defined. This role will continue to support the CM technology & manufacturing validation until the product is released for mass production.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. New Product & Technology Development (NPD / NPI)
  • Participate in the definition of quality requirements, CTQs, and special characteristics (SC) of the products and processes.
  • Ensure implementation of Customer Specific Requirements (CSR) and SC is aligned to customers and IATF requirements.
  • Support and review DFMEA, PFMEA, and design risk assessments.
  • Participate in design and technology readiness reviews, providing quality, reliability and manufacturability input.
  • Ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DfR) are applied.
  • Participate in product quality qualification and PPAP data review, ensuring the requirement methodology is followed.
  • Participate in customer samples risk review meetings. Review internal waiver (if any).
  1. Process Quality & Control
  • Provide quality and technical inputs to the process flows, control plans, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria for new LED processes.
  • Establish and monitor process capability targets (Cp/Cpk) for critical characteristics including of the GR&R of metrology tools.
  • Support DOE and process window definition to ensure robust manufacturing margin.
  • Identify and mitigate risks such key quality and reliability issues reported, work with engineering to establish get-well plan for product releases.
  1. Supplier & Material Quality (Development to Product release Phase)
  • Support qualification of BOM and key indirect materials and suppliers, ensuring critical CTQ data is controlled and reviewed.
  • Collaborate with procurement team in new contract manufacturing (CM) selection
  • Review supplier FMEA, control plans, and PPAP/FAI submissions.
  • Assess supplier changes (PCN/ECN) for quality and reliability impact during development phase.
  • Work with die Fab development team to ensure appropriate process control / inspection are implemented for the engineering samples provided to the packaging development team. Drive root cause corrective actions for issues discovered.
  • Conduct supplier audits on their QMS & process control readiness, in preparation of the mass production release.
  1. Failure Analysis & Corrective Action
  • Work with development team, process engineering and failure analysis team on failure analysis plan and review the results & hypothesis.
  • Drive root cause analysis & corrective actions with development engineering and suppliers
  • Define, verify, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Capture and deploy lessons learned across projects as part of the phase gate reviews.
  1. Reliability & Qualification
  • Participate in the review of the qualification data, failure mode/mechanism with the established hypothesis and corrective action plan.
  • Ensure quality and reliability risks identified are addressed along with the development phase gate.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements and data/reports are completed timely.
  • Review the Product Data Sheet (PDS) to ensure it is consistent with the product performance data.

6. Compliance, Manufacturing Releases

  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, AEC-Q102, ISO 9001, and customer requirements.
  • Lead the VDA6.3/6.5 product release audits with the support from the Product Development and Operation teams, both internal and customer audits.
  • Collaborate with Product Development and Marketing team in customer technical and quality discussions
  • Define and execute safe-launch plan. Review early production quality indicators and potential risk. Drive corrective action plan.
  • Drive quality aspect of the lesson learn which include gaps in QMS, development methodology, and engineering.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience in Semiconductor or/and LED product and packaging technology, tools and manufacturing process quality engineering role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication in Mandarin and English.
  • Strong understanding of LED package structures, materials properties & their influences to packaging process and packaging reliability, manufacturing processes and key equipment capability & controls.
  • Experience with automotive quality tools: FMEA, SPC, MSA, DOE, 8D, PPAP. Ability to develop and conduct training.
  • Knowledge in ISO9001/IATF 16469, VDA6.3/6.5 certification. Certified internal auditor will be added advantage.
  • Posses’ wide knowledge in key defects, failure mechanism, key FA techniques and root cause hypothesis.
  • Know the reliability stress purpose and usage model.
  • Good product application knowledge with ability to apply the appropriate risk assessment for issues discover during development and production ramp.
