Executive summary

Moleskine America is seeking an experienced, self-starting leader to join our finance team. This is a leadership role that will oversee the accountants responsible for performing day-to-day accounting and reporting functions and provide administrative back-office support as needed.

Main activities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
    • Month and end-year process (GAAP and IFRS)
    • Payroll
    • Oversight of employee expense report review/reimbursement
    • Treasury monitoring and forecasting
    • Financial reporting variance analysis
    • Oversight of payment proposal and bank upload for ACH/wire payment
    • Fixed asset activity (IFRS-16 and GAAP)
    • Debt activity
  • Develop and establish proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
  • Manage projects and staff to ensure compliance of accounting policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and oversee annual and tax audits
  • IFRS-16 lease familiarity and support
  • Oversight of tax compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements with tax firm
  • Presents recommendations to Chief Accountant on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent: Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 5+ years of tax, accounting, and finance experience
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Strong knowledge and experience using SAP and HFM
  • Familiarity with startup or mid-sized business environments
  • Retail Accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (completed or in progress of passing CPA exam)
  • Experience in building out accounting system design and implementation of SAP products and addons
  • Demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex operational and accounting challenges
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task
  • Willingness and flexibility to adapt to ongoing process changes and improvements
  • Appreciation for the culture of creativity and exploration valued by our users
