Moleskine America is seeking a Senior Director of Visual Merchandising and Store Design to join the US team and contribute to the advertising, marketing, and sales efforts of a retail/wholesale location by designing, developing, and taking charge of the visual look of the store and its merchandise.
Based in Moleskine America’s corporate office in New York City, the Senior Director of Visual Merchandising and Store Design will actively support the development of the Direct Retail and Wholesale business in accordance with the Brand's strategic objectives. Part of the US Corporate Team and reporting to the SVP of Marketing and New Business Development, this role will also report to the Global Architecture and VM Director in Milan, Italy.
Main activities:
STORE DESIGN
- Collect demands from the US market and organize the information needed for each project.
- Validate project priorities with HQ architecture department
- Design projects with the Global Design Guidelines from HQ
- Organise the tender process and adapt the design to the allocated budget.
- Follow production and site works making sure the schedule is respected.
- Propose zoning and link with merchandising and local teams to bring together all information for the assortment.
- Do the product installation in-store when possible or organize and check it when done by local teams.
- Send regular reports to HQ
INSTORE ASSETS DEVELOPMENT
- Scout and develop a local network of suppliers to produce communication and windows materials.
- Coordinate the production of communication materials such as POP, props, desk flyers.
- Prepare seasonal in-store displays and windows according to the sales strategy
- Ensure all visuals and POP are being renewed on time via close cooperation with distribution, partners, and vendors.
- Adapt all VM-related materials generated by the HQ - including visuals, POS POPs, shelf-talkers, and retailers space customizations ensuring efficient and on-time implementations according to global brand guidelines & local trade marketing team's planning.
VISUAL MERCHANDISING EXECUTION
Material production
- Adapt the HQ VM guidelines to retail and wholesale stores, using Planogram software according to different promotions/campaigns.
- Give HQ feedback on local assortments highlights and suggestions during the declination of Planograms.
- Execute VM presentations, windows, in-store display, and marketing material production according to different promotions/campaigns planned.
- Make regular reports on the VM execution
MONITORING PROCESS/RESULTS
- Ensure corporate VM guidelines are well applied to result in a tidy and comfortable shopping experience to our customers.
- Observe market changes & competitor activities/promotions.
- Maintain a budget and negotiating with suppliers of visual materials.
VISUAL MERCHANDISING TEAM
- Build, manage, and create processes within US Merchandising Team to execute timely, consistent, and elevated campaigns which drive sales within Moleskine Retail and Wholesale brand partners.
- Manage current West Coast Visual Merchandiser
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Office Package: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Design tools: Adobe Photoshop, illustrator and SketchUp are required, AutoCAD is preferred
- Self-motivated, able to work autonomously and results driven.
- Excellent communication and feedback skills.
- Minimum 5-7 years of Visual Merchandising experience and Store design
- Availability to business travel (approx. 20%)
- Have past direct report management skills.
