What is This Position About?  

As a Senior Capture Strategist and a seasoned Department of Defense (DoD) subject matter expert, you will specialize in building and executing federal growth strategies for clients’ innovative technology and will lead our efforts in expanding market presence and securing high-value government contracts within the DoD and federal sectors. Senior Capture Strategists are assigned a select portfolio of clients looking to grow their new, emerging technology within the federal sector. It is the role of the Senior Capture Strategist to guide their clients through the capture management life cycle by prioritizing both internal and external objectives and balancing critical constraints, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and resources. He or she will perform research on behalf of their clients, find the best fit within the DoD, and provide decisive insight on opportunity assessment, federal outreach, and the federal acquisition process. The Senior Capture Strategist is also responsible for representing clients in conversations with DoD partners and collaborating with the Proposal team to ensure supporting materials are prepared.

Cultivating enduring, long-term relationships with clients is paramount, necessitating the Senior Capture Strategist to have a deep understanding of their technology, objectives for growth, and the unique challenges they may face within the federal sector. He or she will thrive off building and supporting client relationships and providing “white glove” service. He or she must have a thorough knowledge of capture life cycle management, the DoD acquisition process, and possess proven experience in developing complex contracts and agreements. He or she must excel in articulating strategic plans, offering well-informed guidance, and employing professional judgement in order to prioritize high-value efforts. 

 

 

What Will You Be Responsible For?

  • Manage and maintain strong working relationships with a portfolio of clients 
  • Develop growth strategies on behalf of clients to grow their technology in the federal sector 
  • Plan, organize, and manage the life cycle of client capture strategies, including determination of feasibility, scope, objectives, and internal resource requirements 
  • Research and analyze DoD program requirements and federal opportunities 
  • Stay up to date with DoD changes, opportunity requirements, and information relevant to clients' strategic needs
  • Manage and execute on large, complex capture efforts
  • Implement strategic outreach initiatives with federal customers and end-users
  • Lead client meetings focused on strategic objectives, opportunities, and outreach efforts 
  • Maintain comprehensive records, reports, and documentation of client strategy progress 
  • Develop supporting collateral to assist conversations between client and DoD customers and end-users 
  • Ensure effective and efficient implementation of proven best practices 
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events, as needed 
  • Support as a strategic thought partner to the Capture Manager in developing Capture team best practices 
  • Serve as a mentor to Capture Strategist team members 
  • Report pertinent information to management and escalate critical matters as required 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

What Qualifications Do You Need? 

  • 8 years of related Industry experience required or 12 years of combined related Industry and Department of Defense experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience 
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred 
  • Proven experience managing client relationships 
  • Exemplary customer service skills 
  • Strong project management experience 
  • Ability to strategically leverage DoD Acquisition knowledge to drive revenue growth for small businesses 
  • Ability to categorize funding appropriations based on requirements of the government and technology/product of the client 
  • Ability to facilitate and build requirement packages on behalf of the government and/or client 
  • Experience with developing and planning a Program Objective Memorandum (POM) for future funding 
  • Experience negotiating sole source contracts 
  • Experience with developing innovative contracts/agreements such as CRADAs, OTAs, IDIQs, BPAs, etc. 
  • Ability to draft and deliver Unfunded Requirement (UFR) Packages and proven history of funding success 
  • Ability to breakdown strategic ideas into actionable tasks 
  • Proficiency with competitive analysis, assessing win probability, and crafting detailed capture plans 
  • Clear, concise, and direct communication skills  
  • Ability to efficiently evaluate and manage the revolving priorities of multiple clients 
  • Demonstrated sense of responsibility and ability to work independently 
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty 
  • Proactive approach to driving results for clients Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with senior managers, business executives, government employees, and team members 
  • Growth mindset and adaptability to keep up with frequently changing industry 
  • Moderate travel required (25%)
