Long Capture promotes the advancement of commercial companies and their technology through government funding programs such as the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR), Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR), and other strategic opportunities. By leveraging its network of government officials and industry partners, Long Capture drives growth for clients in the Department of Defense space. 



What is This Position About? 


The Sales Representative will be responsible for finding and engaging with new clients through referrals, lead generation, and networking. He or she must excel at creating and developing sound relationships with potential clients and strategic partners. He or she will be expected to build and maintain a strong network of connections through phone calls, email, attending events, etc. The Sales Representative must have strong analytic and research skills, which he or she will use to conduct market research on potential revenue streams, new market segments, etc. He or she must be an impeccable communicator and have the ability to identify and resolve problems. He or she must be intimately familiar with Long Capture’s program offerings and effectively communicate them to prospective clients with the goal of establishing new client expectations that set the Capture team up for long-term success.

What Will You Be Responsible For? 


  • Develop and review sales strategies and the sales pipeline through the use of CRM Software 

  • Qualify quality potential clients in order to move through the sales pipeline process 

  • Conduct sales meetings to educate potential clients on our services and answer questions regarding our service agreements 

  • Build and nurture strong, long-lasting business and customer relationships 

  • Negotiate new contracts and assist in closing agreements in order to maximize profits 

  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through excellent sales service 

  • Find and establish potential clients through networking and industry research 

  • Organize and manage archive of contacts 

  • Maintain competency with Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and other Department of Defense (DoD) program requirements to ensure client has suitable product 

  • Forecast and track key account metrics (e.g., client load, sales results, etc.) 

  • Develop and collaborate with management team to identify and grow opportunities 

  • Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed 

  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times, especially when interacting with Long Capture clients 

  • Other duties as assigned 

  • Willingness to travel 25-50% of the time 

 


What Qualifications Do You Need? 


  • 1-3 years of sales experience required, federal sales is a plus 

  • 4 years of federal Department of Defense experience preferred 

  • Experience using CRM systems (i.e. Salesforce, Hubspot, or similar platforms) 

  • Familiarity with military organizational structure and culture 

  • Excellent ability to effectively communicate both written and orally 

  • Ability to breakdown strategic ideas into actionable tasks 

  • Strong analytic and research skills 

  • Ability to prioritize work 

  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation abilities 

  • Demonstrated sense of responsibility and ability to work independently 

  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow up to keep cultivated leads “warm” 

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 

  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty 

  • Growth mindset and adaptability to keep up with frequently changing industry
