Long Capture has an established track record of helping the nation’s best technologies get to the hands of the warfighter by promoting the advancement of commercial companies and their technology through government funding programs. Long Capture guides their clients through the federal acquisition process by facilitating Department of War (DoW) strategy development, contract advising, proposal preparation, and business development activities. By leveraging its network of government officials, industry partners, and universities, Long Capture drives growth for their clients in the DoW space. 

 

What is This Position About? 

A Proposal Writer plays a critical role in managing a diverse portfolio of client proposals, ensuring timely and compliant submissions across all phases of the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program and other Department of War (DoW) opportunities. This position involves close collaboration with clients and Capture Strategists to develop compelling technical volumes, presentation materials, and supporting documentation. He or she applies industry best practices to deliver high-quality, persuasive proposals that reflect each client’s unique strengths and align with government requirements.

A competitive candidate for this position will be an experienced writer with the ability to communicate via written content in a persuasive, clear, and concise manner. He or she will be personable, possessing the ability to cultivate and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with both external clients and internal team members while ensuring proposal preparation tasks are completed in a timely manner. He or she will be detail-oriented and a master facilitator, bringing together multiple pieces ofproposal submissions from both clients and team members while thriving under the challenge of submission deadlines. He or she will be flexible, able to quickly adjust to changes, and be excited by the fast-paced environment of military innovation. He or she will be an effective critical thinker and independent operator, as a wide degree of latitude is expected in the performance of this role. He or she will also enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. 

 

What Will You Be Responsible For?  

        Develop and submit proposal packages in accordance with Company best practices  

        Conduct research on client technology and government use cases for the purpose  of drafting compelling problem statements  

       Maintain positive working relationships with clients and Capture Strategists to  facilitate the effective management of proposal tasks, timelines, and submissions;  act as the primary proposal point of contact and own the proposal-client  relationship  

        Guide clients through each stage of the proposal process, providing expertise and  support to ensure successful and compliant submissions  

       Actively participate in client meetings alongside Capture Strategists, leading  proposal-related discussions as appropriate to ensure accurate information gathering and alignment with client needs  

        Analyze proposals from previous submissions against evaluation criteria to  determine trends, strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in future rounds.  

        Lead Kickoff, Review, and Submission Meetings with clients  

        Prepare templates and other internal documents  

        Read and analyze DoD solicitations  

        Revise and rework existing pre-written content where relevant  

        Team administrative tasks as assigned  

        Other duties as assigned  

      

What Qualifications Do You Need? 

       Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent is required; B.A in English, Journalism, Communications, or other related field preferred 

      Minimum of 3 years of experience with persuasive writing and/or experience with writing under pressure is required (Master's degree with thesis and defense is sufficient) 

       Basic knowledge of military structure and organization is required 

       Demonstrated experience or interest in STEM is a plus 

       Powerful storytelling skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner 

       Extensive writing and editorial skillset: developing new content, revising and reworking existing content, creating simple graphics to enhance readability, editing, reviewing, and quality control 

       Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office programs 

       Demonstrated ability to craft professional, compelling, and visually pleasing presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint or similar presentation software. 

       Strong communication skills 

       Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines simultaneously and to prioritize tasks effectively 

       Demonstrated sense of responsibility and ability to work independently, take initiative, and work through challenges  

       Ability to interpret complex guidelines 

       Dynamic presentation and communication skills 

       Meticulous attention to detail 

       Ability to handle repetitive tasks 

       Comfort with giving and receiving constructive feedback 

       Ability to adapt quickly to changes in requirements, priorities, or timelines, demonstrating flexibility and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment 

       Minimal travel required
