Mechanical/Fluids Technician Description

·         Builds, operates and maintains propulsion test systems from schematics and/or drawings

·         Uses shop equipment such as tube bender, flaring and facing machines, and various hand tools used to fabricate fluid systems

·         Maintains equipment and components such as valves, regulators, filters, pumps, flow meters and other instrumentation

·         Troubleshoots systems and components as necessary

·         Maintains system and component cleanliness while making modifications/repairs to systems

·         Works with minimal supervision and instruction

·         Able to lead and provide technical support and direction for other technicians

·         Wears PPE appropriate for the task

·         Maintains an orderly work area



·         Creative problem solving and troubleshooting skills

·         High School Diploma or equivalent with 5 years or more of experience in a related field

·         AA or AS in a technical discipline such as fluid power preferred

·         Certification with building, operating and maintaining Oxygen systems highly desirable

·         Experience with hazardous fluid handling highly desirable

·         Experience with building rocket engine test systems preferred

·         Experience with the handling and installation of flight hardware desirable

·         Basic computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and presentations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
