This position will be responsible for defining and executing the following engineering processes:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work in a collaborative engineering team environment to produce spacecraft structures for a commercial human spaceflight module
· Perform classical and FEA (linear/non-linear statics, modal, frequency response, random response, explicit and implicit transient) analyses of flight hardware, oil field components and other systems.
· Perform detailed calculations to ensure structural integrity of hardware for failure modes, including but not limited to static, fatigue, fracture, buckling, stability, and creep.
· Perform detailed calculations to ensure structural integrity of mechanical joints such as welds and fasteners.
· Assists in the development of fracture control assessment and fatigue-life analysis of flight hardware.
· Uses appropriate analysis techniques, simplifications, assumptions, and experience-based judgments, to solve complex problems.
· Perform trade studies for technical solutions, including make/buy recommendations
Education & Experience
· 5+ years working in stress analysis engineering
· B.S. in Engineering, Math or Science required (graduate degree preferred)
· Experience developing spaceflight hardware structure including the following materials: metallic, non-metallic, composite
· Demonstrable mastery/success of structural analysis
· Use computer-aided design, mathematical models, and other computer software to formulate, analyze, and modify designs and drive toward ideal solutions
· Oral and written communication skills
· Confident, driven and dynamic leader adept at team building and management
· Capable of cohesively managing a team of internal and outsourced talent
· Entrepreneurial mindset, eager to solve problems and identify original opportunities
· Shows commitment to inspiring others
