ROLE: Lead Environmental Control & Life Support Systems (ECLSS) Engineer

JOB TYPE: Full Time (Exempt)

LOCATION: Houston

This position will be responsible for defining and executing the following engineering processes:

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Work in a collaborative engineering team environment to produce ECLSS systems for a commercial human spaceflight module

·       Design, development, fabrication, testing, certification, and operation of human spaceflight Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS)

·       Perform trade studies for technical solutions, including make/buy recommendations

·       Develop interface control documentation for connection to the International Space Station

·       DDT&E and operation of ECLSS systems

·       Perform parametric sizing and determine optimal ECLSS configurations for varying design inputs

·       Resolve problems encountered in testing and verification processes

·       Drive team to a successful launch and integration to the ISS by 2024

 
QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

·       15+ years working in systems engineering

·       B.S. in Engineering, Math or Science required (graduate degree preferred)

·       7+ years of experience in management/leading teams

·       Required: Detailed understanding of the interactions between ECLSS subsystems, vehicle power, and crew systems

·       Experience developing human rated ECLSS systems

 

Skills

·       Demonstrable mastery/success designing, developing, testing, and verifying human rated ECLSS systems

·       Knowledge of legacy systems with ability to identify areas for improvement to develop next generation safe commercial ECLSS solutions

·       Expertise with ventilation systems, potable water purification systems, active and passive thermal control systems, CO2removal, and oxygen generation

·       Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance, sparing, and logistics associated with ECLSS systems

·       Confident, driven and dynamic leader adept at team building and management

·       Capable of cohesively managing a team of internal and outsourced talent

·       Oral and written communication skills
