The Production Planner intermediates between the sales and production departments on the planning and implementation of the weekly production schedule.  This position requires frequent interaction between the sales force and production management to address urgent customer needs or problems on the floor
Major Responsibilities of a Production Planner::
1. Schedules all assigned production areas based on priorities provided by sales.   Develops work schedules by week.  Participates in morning scheduling meeting.
2. Responds to expedite requests concerning specific orders with the goal of providing information back to sales.
3. Manages Customer Reorder Point program.  Maintains in-house inventory levels for key accounts.
4. Compiles job packages and issues them to the shop floor.  Ensures that all paperwork is neat and well organized.  Is responsible for handling changes to paper that is already in manufacturing.
5. Works in concert with appropriate production personnel on status of incoming materials.  Uses information in order to properly schedule work teams and advises sales on order status.
6. Advises production management on schedule status and provides forward looking data in order to plan ahead for possible schedule anomalies such as large spikes in demand.
7. Organizes and maintains job travelers and communicates requirements via both job packages and paperless scheduling system.
8. Assist in approving leave requests for PET (Personal Excused Time) and Vacation to ensure personnel are available to complete upcoming job requirements.
9. Act as a resource to production management when training issues arise based on knowledge of specific employee skills and job history.
10. Assist in 5S program 
11. Work with other team members and management to accomplish corporate quality goals of: on-time delivery, turnaround time, profitability, and returns.


You will need to:
Read, write and speak English well
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
Good math skills to include fractions and decimals
Capable of managing shifting priorities in a fast-paced work environment
Capable of organizing and acting on multiple tasks
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Sound coaching and training skills


Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associates Degree or equivalent industry experience (min of 5 years)

  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment both by yourself and with the team
  • Be able to lift up to 10 lbs frequently during the day


Other Experience:

Previous manufacturing background helpful

Production and materials planning experience a plus

Experience with an ERP system (Epicor) helpful
