Job purpose

The accountant will prepare and record financial transactions and assist in the preparation of financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities under the direction of the Seal Shield Controller. 

Duties and responsibilities

 ·         Review and approve sales orders, create invoices, and provide shipment communications to customers

·         Review and approve webstore orders and credit card processing

·         Perform general accounting and banking functions and transactions

·         Maintain the general ledger

·         Prepare cash flow forecasts

·         Review, code and process employee AMEX statements and expense reports

·         Prepare and submit payroll worksheets, reports and calculations

·         Assist in managing and recording purchase and inventory transactions, such as creating PO summaries and outgoing payments, recording and testing pricing, documenting inbound freight and tariff allocations, and reconciliation of related accounts

·         Perform general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department

·         Prepare periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements

·         Reconcile customer accounts and manage accounts receivable collections

·         Verify payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts

·         Perform tasks associated with month-end closing processes

·         Support year-end audit inquiries

·         Assist with the preparation of required federal, state and local government taxes

·         Develop written policies and procedures

·         Perform other related duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

Required Skills/Abilities:

·         High ethical standards

·         Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting

·         Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles

·         Highly proficient with MS Excel and accounting software

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

·         Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

·         Excellent written and verbal communication and active listening skills

·         Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively 

Education/Experience:

·         Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics

·         Professional experience in an Accounting role (1-3 years)

·         ERP System experience (NetSuite preferred)

Working conditions

Once this person is fully trained, they will be primarily working virtually from their home office but will need to be local to the greater Orlando for occasional travel to the corporate office (Downtown Orlando, FL).   Some out of town/state and overnight travel may be required to attend team meetings, educational events, team building events, etc.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
