Giving everyone in the world access to clean, reliable, affordable energy will require substantial expansion of global electricity transmission networks. VEIR is developing a new generation of High-Temperature Superconductor (HTS)-based transmission lines, enabling long-distance, reliable, low-loss, cost–effective power transfer in far smaller right–of–ways. VEIR’s innovations overcome the main barriers to transmission expansion, enabling the world to access the very lowest-cost renewable power.  


THE ROLE: 


The Project Manager will be responsible for managing VEIR’s Projects and Demonstrations, including the daily coordination of engineering, supply-chain, and internal/external fabrication resources through the design, engineering, testing, and install phases of all projects. This will include internal product development projects and demonstrations, customer projects, and government-funded projects. Duties will include coordination of matrixed teams to ensure resources are focused on the critical project activities at the right time. The Project Manager will be engaged in projects from the initial application/bid phasesupporting the completion of application/bid documents, creating project schedules, budgets, and risk/mitigation plans – and working to ensure projects become operational on time and within budget by working with the field teams to safely execute construction, install, testing, and commissioning activities. 

 

You Are:

 

  • A strong communicator. You understand that it takes many teams to complete large complex projects and have the ability to clearly communicate goals, timelines, progress, and risks to all levels in the organization.
  • Experienced in managing multiple large projects from the conceptual to operational phases, creating and managing budgets and schedules to ensure successful projects. 
  • Analytical with a technical background in order to make informed decisions if technical problems and resource issues for the projects you manage . 


You Will:

 

  • Develop project applications, bids, technical scopes, budgets, and schedules in coordination with Commercial and Engineering teams 
  • Coordinate engineering and procurement teams. Schedule and lead certain engineering and procurement activities 
  • Ensure assigned individuals are executing the identified and assigned tasks and provide appropriate tracking and reporting 
  • Support in the permitting, construction, install, test, and commissioning activities 
  • Support VEIR management in cost estimations and budgeting 
  • Brief VEIR management on project’s progress, issues, and risk mitigations 
  • Comply with safety standards and Company guidelines 
  • Promote safety, efficiency, teamwork, and collaboration 

 

Basic Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited course of study in Business, Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical), or Project Management 
  • 5+ years of experience in project management or engineering/business operations  
  • The position requires someone who is highly motivated and organized with project management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to clearly communicate goals, findings, and issues 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; self-motivated and directed 


Preferred Qualifications: 


  • 5+ years of experience leading through influence and integrating across teams 
  • Highly motivated and organized with demonstrated leadership skills 
  • Excellent project management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills 
  • Experience working with government contracts and government project management requirements including schedule and budget requirements. 

 

Expected Outcomes in 12 Months: 


  • 3 months: Caught up on understanding key initiatives within the organization and transitioned to leading existing projects 
  • 6-12 months: Supporting the applications/bids for new project opportunities and creating project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates. Successful execution of existing project construction activities. Leads recurring meetings with VEIR management and project team members.
