PGP (The Public Good Projects) is seeking a full-time Senior Manager, Monitoring and Media Research to manage the media monitoring work of our Research Team. The Research team supports two types of work: analysts who monitor media data  (e.g., social media, digital media, online news etc) and produce insights that inform programs & communications, and public health researchers who predominantly conduct program evaluations. This Senior Manager would focus on supporting the team and outputs of our media monitoring work. 

 

This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in research and social media, who excels in data analysis, project leadership, and supervision. This role is a critical component of overseeing media monitoring processes and analysis that inform reports and insights across a variety of programs and topics. This position will report to the Senior Director of Research. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Specific duties include, but may not be limited to:  

 

  • Manage, lead, and coach a team of research analysts who use social listening and media monitoring platforms, like Talkwalker, Meta Content Library, and Quid, to study a range of public health topics, including mental health, infectious disease, and substance use, among others.

  • Oversee collaboration with other departments, including Editorial and Communications departments, to ensure programs are incorporating data and insights from monitoring platforms into programs. 

  • Guide day to day operations and project execution within media monitoring projects to ensure high-quality deliverables, often in the form of case studies, white papers, and internal insights.

  • Design and edit reports and presentations, ensuring content conveys key messages and is translated for various stakeholders, including non-research audiences.

  • Oversee the review process and take part in editing for all deliverables to maintain quality and relevance.

  • Mentor and support team development, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Stay informed about industry trends in social media and media data to enhance team capabilities and methodologies in monitoring and reporting on media data.

  • Represent the research team in/at external meetings with clients or other stakeholders. 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Public Health, or other social sciences + 5 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree + 8 years of experience

  • Demonstrated leadership success, including supporting and motivating staff

  • Interest in infodemiology, media data, and research, including latest trends in social media platforms 

  • Knowledge of, or interest in learning, social listening and media monitoring platforms like Talkwalker, Meta Content Library, Quid, etc

  • Experience managing multiple priorities and projects requiring a high degree of organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

  • Ability to see the big picture while keeping track of details
