The Account Manager II is a crucial role in managing and nurturing client relationships. Primary responsibility will be to ensure client satisfaction, retention, and growth through a deep understanding of existing client preclinical research needs to drive revenue growth across Virscio’s business and service lines.  The Account Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional service and solutions tailored to client needs.

Essential Job Responsibilities 

 

  1. Account & Relationship Management 

  • Responsible for managing and developing existing and future accounts and relationships within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, academic market segments.  

  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional Sponsor engagement experience while ensure quarterly and annual sales targets are achieved.  

  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships while acting as the “voice of the customer” to uncover needs and opportunities for expanded engagement and growth. 

  • Set and manage Sponsor expectations while serving as the Sponsor champion, ensuring we propose and deliver high value preclinical research solutions.

 

  1. RFP Process, Opportunity Management, & Pipeline Reporting 

  • Lead RFP development, opportunity management, and contracting processes

  • Partner with Business Development (BD), Subject Matter Experts (SME), and Proposals & Contracts to ensure timely and efficient delivery of compelling proposals. 

  • Coordinate all RFP communications and accurately capture and communicate notes and actions on all open RFPs to relevant stakeholders to ensure efficient engagement, opportunity prioritization, and opportunity pipeline reporting. 

  • Generate and deliver accurate pipeline forecasts and reports to enable decision making

  • Lead the transition and hand-off of awarded contracts to the Project Management and Study Execution team, ensuring clear communication of project scope, contracting terms, agreed upon timelines, and project-specific risks that could impact the quality of overall engagement and service delivery.

 

  1. CRM and Project Management System Management

  • Effectively leverage Salesforce CRM to accurately and consistently capture all Account, Contact, and Opportunity information to enable marketing and business development insights and activities.  

  • Ensure integrity of data capture and data mapping between Salesforce and Wrike, Virscio’s project management system to enable reporting and analytics. 

 

  1. RFP Process Improvement & CRM Capability Development

  •  Leverage knowledge, experience, and industry best practices to evolve Virscio’s RFP tools and templates to improve quality, efficiency, and timeliness of Sponsor engagement, proposal delivery, and defense. 

  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to identify and implement improvements to CRM system to improve efficiency and effectiveness of business development and marketing activities.

 

  1. Collateral Development & Sponsor Education 

  • Develop and communicate deep knowledge of Virscio’s business and service lines, R&D capabilities, competitive positioning, and value proposition to educate Sponsor and influence the purchasing process.  

  • Distribute marketing and scientific collateral to current and prospective customers

  • Contribute to development of new collateral as required 

 

  1. Industry Participation - Participate in conferences and trade shows as required.

Qualifications                                                                                                                                             

  1. Education level/Certifications/Licensures

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in biological sciences, laboratory management, or related discipline.  

  1. Experience

  • 3+ years relevant work experience. Minimum 5 years’ of life sciences experience, preferably at a CRO or in vivo focused biotech/pharma

  1. Specific competencies

  • Solid understanding of the drug development process preferred

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Highly organized, self-motivated with a ‘team first’ attitude

  • Detail oriented

  • Demonstrated time management skills

    • Ability to juggle competing demands and prioritize effectively

    • Ability to meet deadlines, and support team to do the same

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • Proficiency in Salesforce a must.  Understanding of hubspot a benefit

  1. Travel expectations

  • Minimal (5% - 20%, as deemed necessary).
