Job Overview

The  Proposals and Contracts Manager   will partner with Business Development, Project Management, and Project Teams to develop and administer project financial budgets, proposals and associated scope and budget defense, and contracts to ensure timely and accurate business, financial and operating decision making by all internal and external stakeholders.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  1. Client Service
    1. Serve as the primary internal and external project finance lead on all contract research service agreements to ensure continuity of client engagement and accurate internal reporting.
    2. Communicate cost implications for review and approval, both internally and to the client, in a timely and professional manner.
  2. Project Financial Management
    1. In close collaboration with the project team, lead project resource modeling, costing, and pricing and overall budget administration associated with contract amendments.
    2. Optimize resource, costing, and pricing tools (Excel) used for contracting to enable definition and capture and forecast of timelines, budgets, and costs that will form the basis of revenue recognition, timesheets and monitoring of project performance and cash flow.
    3. Assisting Business Development and Proposals & Contracts teams with costing, pricing, and proposal development for new proposals, as needed
    4. Attending regular operational project team meetings, operational meetings with Department Heads, and monthly Project Management meetings with Senior Management
    5. Monitor and reconcile actual project financial performance against budgeted tasks.
    6. Understand revenue and billing movements of all projects, updating cost to complete forecasts based on project timelines, ensuring accurate booking of revenue recognition and associated project costs by accounting team.
  3. Contract Administration
    1. Lead the contract amendment process to capture changes in scope are accurately captured, communicated, and approved for contracting, internally and externally.
    2. Ensure project management system accurately reflects status of all active projects and contracts, and all project information is accurately represented for cross-functional reference.
  4. Ad Hoc Financial Analysis
    1. Support monthly financial reporting and financial forecasting, project and departmental budgeting, backlog reconciliation, audits, internal and external financial audits

 

Qualifications

 

  1. Education level/Certifications/Licensures
    • Bachelor's degree, with emphasis in accounting, business administration, and/or finance, or related field.  MBA and/or professional financial certification such as CPA or CMA preferred.
  2. Experience
    • 3+ years of experience in the preclinical and/or clinical contract research (CRO) setting, supporting project costing, pricing and contract administration.
  3. Specific competencies

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  4. Travel expectations
    • Up to 10% Travel, as required.

 

Work Location

 

Hybrid, Connecticut; 2-3 days per week onsite.  Potential for remote opportunity for experienced candidates.
