Senior Manager / Associate Director of Finance

Virscio is seeking an exceptional Senior Manager / Associate Director of Finance to provide strategic and operational finance leadership for corporate and business line financial functions. Your overall accountabilities will include both strategy and operational accountabilities, with a focus on developing and administering accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting of business lines and supporting capital investment budgeting to enable continued profitable investment and growth. Your contributions will provide tactical and strategic insights and analysis that will drive business and investing decisions. This leader will work directly with the Chief Financial Officer, as well as teams throughout the organization to provide effective leadership and oversight for departmental budgeting and accountability.

Responsibilities

Prepare analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results against corporate and project forecast budgets, with appropriate variance analysis and commentary.

Develop and implement dynamic monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP and cash-basis forecasting models and reports for presentation to key stakeholders to enable investment decisions (i.e., Executive leadership, Board of Directors, and lenders).
In partnership with external integration firm, implement robust FP&A software and processes to enable departmental budget forecasting, management and reporting (e.g., Planful).
Partner with department heads to identify investment and operating needs, while ensuring consistency between corporate goals, project timelines, and funding plans.
Collaborate with commercial and scientific teams to improve and optimize financial tools used to model resources and costs associated with current and future product / service lines to enable pricing strategy, B/L and S/L profitability, and revenue / mix of business targets.
Develops and implements policies, procedures, controls, and systems to improve budget, cash management, and forecast processes as the Company grows in size and complexity.
Collaborate with the executive team to build business and financial models that enable translation of corporate strategy into short and long-range business, financial and operating objectives, corporate and business line organizational structures, staffing requirements, and succession plans to mitigate risk and maximize long-term growth potential.
Educating internal leaders on budget management to support good understanding of their accountability and ownership.
Performing all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience (corporate finance, investment banking, management consulting, private equity), with stronger weighting towards corporate finance roles within a dynamic operating company; CRO and/or life science experience is a big plus.
Bachelors in finance or accounting or equivalent discipline required; MBA a plus
Relevant experience within a start-up and/or growth company that has been funded by VC and/or private-equity investors a plus.

Must possess excellent analytical skills and ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations.
Expert financial modeling (Excel) and presentation skills (PowerPoint).
Ability to successfully manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, with contract accounting experience; Sage Intacct experience a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact well with senior management and communicate effectively in meetings.
Must be a team player who understands the importance of the role as a key support function to the operating team.
Ability and desire to roll up sleeves and be hands on in an entrepreneurial fast-paced, high-growth environment.
A strong passion for biomedical research and innovation.
