SKBRF is seeking a Landscape Manager who will be responsible for the design and development of new landscape and garden areas and will ensure a high level of presentation is maintained for all garden & landscaped areas at the St. Kitts Biomedical Research Foundation. The Landscape Manager will closely and cohesively work with the Landscape Team while providing team leadership and working 'hands-on' as an active member of the landscaping team.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Planning, designing, implementing, and managing landscaping projects.
  • Oversee the day-to-day landscaping activities.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the administration and leadership of the landscaping team through monitoring staff development needs, performance management, coaching, employee relations and long-term planning.
  • Ensure that property landscape goals are communicated, understood, and met by the landscaping team.
  • Identify staff training needs and assist with development and implementation of training programs, including plant care and maintenance, proper and safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and machinery needed for work activities.

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Associate degree in landscape architecture or related field, or a minimum of five years of related work experience, including at least three years leadership experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of horticulture and grounds maintenance procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of a range of horticultural machinery (chain saws, push-mowers, ride-on mowers, brush cutters, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage projects.
  • Understanding of irrigation systems.
  • Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy.
  • An attitude for quality, an eye for detail and the ability to strictly follow standardized procedures and written instructions.
  • A valid St. Kitts-Nevis driver's license is required.
  • Ability to lift 55 pounds on a regular basis; work outside for long periods of time in unfavorable conditions; perform strenuous manual labor requiring considerable walking, lifting, reaching, climbing, stooping, pushing, pulling, and carrying.
