We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled research scientist with a proven track record of research and managerial accomplishments to join Virscio’s cutting-edge molecular facility to expand the application of molecular endpoints to the translational biology of in vitro and in vivo models. The Research Scientist in Molecular Biology will be responsible for molecular facility functions, equipment qualification and operation, and assay development in support of studies exploring disease physiology and evaluating the pharmacokinetics, efficacy, and safety of candidate therapeutics.  


Responsibilities:

· Establish, expand, and maintain a molecular core facility to enable Virscio’s translational science platform, collaborating with contributing senior scientists.

· Define molecular assays and methods needed to meet the scientific objectives of sponsored studies and internal test system characterization.

·  Independently conceive and execute molecular biology assays, including protein and transcriptome analyses. 

· Coordinating laboratory operations within a good laboratory practice (GLP) environment driving development and application of relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs).

· Effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams within and outside Virscio to proactively solve problems and advance molecular biology objectives.

· Train and direct colleagues in established techniques and the development of novel methodologies working in person and advising remotely.

· Communicate scientific results and strategies for internal and external reports and presentations.


Qualifications: 

· Ph.D. in molecular biology or related field with 3-6+ years of post-graduate experience.

· Demonstrated track record of scientific achievement (i.e., strong publication and/or patent record).

· Extensive laboratory research experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, transcriptome/epigenetic analyses with a high degree of expertise in cell isolation, ELISA, cytokine assays and transcriptomic analyses; experience in single-cell RNA-seq, spatial biology and associated bioinformatics is a plus.

· Ability to develop novel assays and cellular models for the interrogation of translational research, proficiency in standard biochemical, cellular & molecular techniques, and statistical analysis.

·  Experienced in training and mentoring junior scientists/technician

·  Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to collaborate across internal and external teams

·  Ability to thrive in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary, matrixed environment
