Position: Senior Accountant

Location:  New Haven, CT, or remote for right candidate

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with preparing, monitoring budgets on a large number of capital-intensive projects.
  • Preparation of documentation for external auditors.
  • Assist Corporate Controller with Month End closing as deemed necessary.
  • Preparation of monthly financial statement and related analyses and reconciliations of Company’s foreign subsidiary.
  • Completion of monthly financial analyses, account reconciliations and reports. 
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors to ensure accurate AP reporting
  • Credit Manager – Establishing credit terms with a number of existing and new vendors to improve Company’s credit and D&B ratings
  • Ensuring bills are paid in a timely, accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations, reports, and financial statements to enable corporate and project budget vs actual analyses and rolling P&L and cash flow forecasts
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual close activities by ensuring timely, accurate and complete financial records and reporting in accordance with US GAAP, including Percentage of Completion Method contract accounting
  • Responsible for oversight of the Company’s fixed assets records in accordance with the Company’s fixed asset capitalization policy, prepare the monthly fixed asset depreciation, and prepare related monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules
  • Assist Corporate Controller with Month End closing as deemed necessary.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members in delivering high quality, reliable, decision ready information to business partners
  • Support and assist with quarterly reviews and annual audits or any ad hoc accounting, finance, and/or FP&A projects as directed by management
  • Support the controller in preparing quarterly and annual reports and tax filings
  • Diagnose and address employment and operational related trends.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience; At least two (2) years hands-on experience with Sage Intacct
  • Foreign currency experience a plus
  • Preclinical, clinical CRO and/or life sciences experience a strong plus
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP and contract accounting
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills as well as analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced Excel skills required, including building and/or maintaining financial models to enable business and investment decision making (pivot table, VLOOKUPs)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask in managing tight deadlines with follow-through and minimal supervision
  • Possess a strong work ethic and ability to be adaptable to changing responsibilities and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, flexible and willing to adapt to changing needs and timelines
  • Communicating with external customers and internal stakeholders succinctly and professionally
  • Ability to spot issues and proactively define and action solutions
