What will you do?
The Talent Development Director is responsible for defining SKBRF training strategy and implementing associated programs and plans to achieve facility operational objectives. This includes defining skills gaps in collaboration with departmental leaders and designs, develops training curricula and implements skill development plans appropriate to roles across training levels and departments, and coordinates their delivery with department leaders, and defined subject matter experts, assisted by the Training Department. The Talent Development Director ensures training aligns to job titles/roles and individual proficiencies, applying pedagogical tools, memorization methods, gamification, testing, media, and resources appropriate to the continuing education objective, additionally ensuring delivered training is documented compliant with regulatory and career and competency tracking objectives. Fulfilling this responsibility involves working with department leaders and Human Resources to apply training materials and training management tools to bring efficiencies and effectiveness to onboarding programs, talent nurturing and retention, and filling team training gaps. Responsibilities will further involve leading training directly in realms of expertise, engagement with teammates at all levels to understand training voids and opportunities, community outreach, and setting and evaluating training quality standards.

Effectiveness and continuity of communication will require response to emails, texts, or calls outside regular work hours and/or on weekends under certain time sensitive situations. Professional development and/or client engagement may also require participation in onsite or offsite formal or informal meetings outside normal work hours and/or on weekends.

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Leadership: Promote a continuous education work environment by designing and implementing role relevant career training paths to achieve employee job success and career development.
- Skills Gap Analysis: Identify skill and knowledge gaps, via testing methods where appropriate, to ensure a clear path for development, performance, and advancement of employees within defined functional tracks. Collaborate with department leaders to assist in the identification of skill and knowledge gaps, and potential high performers that should be considered for expanded responsibilities.
- Curriculum Development: Develop role-specific training curricula for all levels of research and operations staff, synthesizing modular training materials from existing standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidance documents, manuals, audiovisual content, publications, online training courses and content, and other aligned and approved external resources, as required. Consider incorporation of gamification and other memorization strategies to assist employees in retaining the learned materials.
- Training Library Development: Lead development, implementation, and maintenance of strategic framework that enables interdepartmental collaboration that results in a multimedia training library to efficiently and effectively orient trainees on principal facility procedures, introducing and refining training formats aligned to given subject matter and/or individuals.
- Training Coordination: Apply Virscio’s Quality Management System (QMS) training module to define, coordinate, schedule, and deliver relevant individual and team training across departments. Ensure effective collaboration and communication between the Training Department and department leaders to enable timely and accurate maintenance and updates to Virscio’s training matrix.
- Administration: Develop and implement a central repository to ensure efficient interdepartmental collaboration and administration of all curriculum and library content.
- QC/QA: Proofread and edit training documents when not lead creator. Contribute to SOP maintenance and preparation for compliance audits of training program and records and responds to Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) findings.
- Reporting: Evaluate and report effectiveness and impact of training to management and supervisors to guide training program improvement.
- Communication: Communicate near and long-term training objectives for refinement into weekly training schedules by the Training Department. Conduct staff training as defined trainer when serving as subject matter expert.
- Capability Expansion: Maintain familiarity with best educational practices to inform training program improvement and expansion in consultation with senior leadership.

- Minimum 10 years’ experience working in adult/higher education in the life sciences.
