Director of Infrastructure

JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Infrastructure will be responsible for growing and leading the DevOps and DB teams at Ninja Holdings. The Director will work closely with the VP of Engineering to create and execute a technical vision that supports three related, but distinct businesses - NinjaEdge, NinjaCard, and CreditNinja.
The right candidate understands that a strong relationship with business teams is important. This person also believes that infrastructure and infrastructure-like teams are experts that can boost the productivity of fellow engineering teams (and business teams) through tooling and guidance. The right person has excellent written and verbal communication and is able to articulate complex technical issues with clarity to non-technical teammates. Finally, the right candidate is technical. He or she may not build infrastructure everyday, but understands what it takes to build and maintain infrastructure from past experience building platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
You'll be part of a growing Engineering department (currently 45) leading the efforts of the DevOps and DB teams which are composed of developers, infrastructure engineers, and db engineers. You will...
• Have a substantial focus on recruiting and interviewing engineers
• Ensure the DevOps and DB teams provide the means for other teams to self-service in a controlled, safe, and productive manner.
• Be responsible for the quality of work produced and the quality of how it's produced.
• Set and direct the technical vision.
• Work closely with the Product and Software Engineering teams.
• Ensure we maintain and evolve our security practices across production and non-production systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
• At least 4+ years of professional experience as a Cloud Engineer, DevOps, or Developer
• At least 4+ years engineering in web application context
• At least 2+ years of experience as a Sr Manager or Director of Engineering
• Excellent written communication skill. We are a distributed company and asynchronous communication is a strategic foundation.
• Excellent verbal communication skill. We certainly leverage video calls as needed.
• Experience growing an Engineering organization
• Experience building infrastructure in the cloud
Additional Pluses, but not requirements:
• Experience leading teams in growth stage companies
• Experience in fintech and lending a big plus.
• Intimate knowledge of AWS components and building blocks, such as ECS, RDS, EKS, and ECS
