JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Data Management Associate to join the Operations Research team. The hire will be responsible for building and maintaining reporting for all operational processes helping the optimization of all operational and business wide initiatives, driving higher growth, efficiency and profits.

 

The ideal candidate demonstrates proficiency in SQL and has experience bringing actionable data to the respective business purpose. Must be a self-starter and comfortable supporting the needs of multiple teams, systems and products, in particular, the Operations Research, Operations, Strategy, Collections and Finance teams. Experience in a quantitative field is a plus. The right candidate is excited about seeing the effects of his work on the bottom line and a high level of autonomy.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Aggregate, maintain and own data from various data server configurations and data management philosophies that has direct implications on the day-to-day Operations, in particular, drives collections activity
  • Condense complex analytical data into actionable reporting dashboards, that drive conclusions and enable smart business decisions
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses, provide quick answers and structure complex reporting as directed by management
  • Extensively use various flavors of SQL, translations of one to the other e.g. combine mySQL and Postgres with Redshift to answer operational questions
  • Become a leading resource in the future design process of in-house data structures and management systems

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have experience and good working knowledge with relational databases for 2+ years, quantitative degree in a STEM field preferred
  • Comfortable in a flexible, fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment with minimal supervision
  •  Understand data as means to an end rather than a dogma
  • Curious, fast learner and reasonably frustration resistant as there will be growing pains that come with the territory in startups
  • Strong ability to assess, communicate and correct complex problems at a fast pace
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Self-started with strong communication skills 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You know how your windows function, about MS Windows’ functions and SQL window functions 
  • You are comfortable when a foreign key might have to be in a time-box
  • Common Table Expressions are your bread and butter
  • You are familiar with the subtle differences, limitations and peculiarities of SQL, Postgres, MySQL, SQL server, Redshift and know to translate one to the other
  • Have experience with a multi-vendor approach and the corresponding challenges involved in making systems work together that were not designed to do so
