JOB SUMMARY:

CreditNinja is seeking an experienced accounting manager who will report directly to the Controller focusing on executing the general accounting and financial reporting functions of the company. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join a well-capitalized startup on the ground floor and help drive our success. This position is currently remote, but will eventually report into the Chicago Loop office. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, in a hands-on capacity, the monthly close and reporting processes and annual audit processes
  • Manage and mentor a team of 2
  • Oversee the day to day operations of the accounting department to help maintain an accurate general ledger
  • Contribute to business results by working cross-functionally with teams
  • Lead the development of accounting for new loan products and testing system configuration
  • Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Create and streamline accounting processes and procedures while driving continuous improvement and standardization
  • Prepare the monthly financial statements and related footnote disclosures
  • Work as a liaison to external auditors

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • CPA required
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in public accounting or relevant industry experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with monthly close processes
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines, follow through to completion, and present conclusions of analysis to senior management in an organized and thoughtful manner
  • Experience working with startups, specialty finance or FinTech a plus
  • Experience with SQL a plus
