The Texas Freedom Network (TFN) seeks a full-time Organizing Director based in Austin, Texas. TFN is a statewide non-partisan, grassroots organization that is building an informed and effective movement working toward equality and social justice.
The Organizing Director will play a key role in driving our grassroots and faith organizing programs across the state of Texas. The primary responsibilities of the Organizing Director include setting and implementing a strategic vision for successful grassroots, base-building campaigns and for Just Texas, our statewide faith organizing program. The Organizing Director will motivate and manage our talented organizing staff to grow and engage progressive advocates in Texas. They will be an innovator, a communicator, and a team player. The Organizing Director will report to the Vice President of Programs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop, coordinate and implement programs to engage, organize and mobilize progressive Texans, faith leaders, and communities of faith in civic engagement activities throughout the state of Texas.
Supervise and delegate responsibilities to members of TFN’s organizing team/department, including staff, interns, volunteers and consultants.
Support the development of relationships with faith leaders and faith communities to grow and advance the Just Texas Reproductive Freedom Congregations program.
Build relationships with and ensure TFN is well-represented in key movement coalition spaces.
Work and communicate cross-departmentally with other TFN department directors to ensure collaboration and innovation in all organizational work.
Monitor and present key engagement metrics and deliverables to ensure organizing team remains on track to achieve key organizational goals
Qualifications and Skills
At least five years of work experience visioning, building, managing and executing campaigns or grassroots organizing programs for a progressive or advocacy organization or a political/issue campaign.
Strong familiarity of the Texas political climate and legislative process, with an understanding about when and where to engage.
Commitment to social justice and experience with social–change organizing.
Experience managing a high-performing team.
Strong management, budgeting, communication, analytical and organizational skills, including relevant project management experience.
Experience working with communities of color and a desire to be part of an anti-racist organization.
Experience or familiarity working with communities of faith preferred.
Excellent relationship-building skills with ability to influence others toward a common vision or goal.
Familiarity with digital organizing tactics and relational organizing tools
Travel throughout Texas will be required, and applicant must have reliable transportation.
Benefits
Salary: $75,000-$85,000 (depending on experience)
