The Texas Freedom Network is a statewide non-partisan, grassroots organization that is building an informed and effective movement working toward equality and social justice.


The Deputy Field Organizer (DFO) will work in Arlington on our youth engagement program, Texas Rising. They will work to build power on their campus and in their community by organizing to increase voter participation. This position begins early August and ends in mid October. The main responsibility of the Deputy Field Organizer will be to register voters, taking about 90% of scheduled time. Deputy Field Organizers should be high energy, outgoing, enthusiastic, and willing to spend many active hours outdoors interacting with voters. Deputy Field Organizers report to the Regional Field Coordinator and the Advocacy and Field Organizer in their region. This is a part-time position, working on average 15-20 hours per week. 


Job Duties

  • Register voters in the Arlington area 

  • Table, canvass, and conduct class presentations to register voters and update voter registrations

  • Train with local election office(s) to become a certified Voter Deputy Registrar

  • Responsible for submitting voter registration forms to county elections in compliance with county guidelines

  • Engage with registered voters to pledge to vote in all upcoming elections


Qualifications & Skills

  • Candidate must have a desire to learn and a willingness to receive feedback

  • Candidates must have the ability to communicate with diverse communities and leaders

  • Candidates must be willing to get deputized to register voters, ideal candidate is already deputized

  • Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills, experience meeting deadlines, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;


Pay and Benefits:

  • $19 per hour

  • Paid sick time

  • $100/mo travel/phone/wifi stipend


This position requires regular interaction with the general public. TFN is committed to keeping employees as safe as possible, including strongly recommending vaccinations (and possibly requiring full vaccination at a future date). It might not always be possible to maintain a full schedule of hours for employees not able to engage in in-person field work.
