The Texas Freedom Network is a statewide non-partisan, grassroots organization that is building an informed and effective movement working toward equality and social justice.


The Campus Organizer will work in [city name] on our youth engagement program, Texas Rising. They will work to build power on their campus and in their community by organizing to increase voter participation. This position will require 20 hrs a week on average at $19/hr. The responsibilities of the Campus Organizer will be to build the base of Texas Rising students, conduct issue and voter registration campaigns, and occasionally administrative and data entry tasks. Campus Organizers should be high-energy, outgoing, enthusiastic, and willing to spend many active hours outdoors interacting with students on campus. Campus Organizers report to the Regional Field Coordinator in their region.


  • Candidate must have a desire to learn and a willingness to receive feedback

  • Candidates must have the ability to communicate with diverse communities and leaders

  • Candidates must be willing to get deputized to register voters (ideal candidate is already deputized)

  • Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills, experience meeting deadlines, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Preference will be given to candidates that are currently enrolled in a college or university of this region.

  • Candidates must have a passion for LGBTQ equality, reproductive justice, criminal justice reform, immigration reform, and voting rights

  • Paid sick time

  • $50/mo internet and phone stipend

The Advocacy and Field Organizer will work in DFW on our youth engagement program, Texas Rising. The Advocacy and Field Organizer in DFW will work on our youth engagement program, Texas Rising, and will mainly focus on the management of our voter registration and get out the vote program. 


Job Description:

  • Recruit, train, and manage paid canvassing staff

  • Part-time position at $19/hr

  • Average 20 – 25 hrs/week

  • $50/mo internet and phone stipend

  • Paid sick time

  • Coach, shadow, and make work plans with paid canvassing staff in the field

  • Meet numerical expectations for daily contacts with voters

  • Attend a day-long training, plus additional one-on-one training with the Regional Field Coordinator to learn about Texas Rising and your role 

  • Manage canvassing operation, including but not limited to: tracking hours, ensuring team members meet expectations, and coordinating logistics, including managing supplies. 

  • Maintain regular communication with the Regional Field Coordinator, including but not limited to providing reports on canvasser performance and progress toward campaign goals

  • Ability to take lead on local issue-advocacy projects in the region

  • Job duties will fluctuate based on season


Requirements:

  • Ability to work well with a team, take direction and feedback, and share skills and knowledge 

  • Energetic and positive attitude

  • Ability to work respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; self-motivated 

  • Ability to manage a team of 5 - 10 people

  • Ability to work around 4-6 hours a day for 4-5 days a week

  • Ability to be active and mobile on campuses 

  • Must be willing to get deputized to register voters 

  • Have a keen attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly

  • Passion for progressive politics, youth organizing, and grassroots communities.

  • Must have access to a laptop, smartphone, and reliable transportation

  • Previous experience in canvassing or other civic engagement campaigns required

  • Bilingual: English and Spanish preferred but not required

  • Management experience preferred but not required
