Texas Rising seeks a full-time Regional Field Coordinator in El Paso, TX. Texas Rising is a project of Texas Freedom Network, a statewide grassroots organization that is building an informed and effective movement of young Texans working toward equality and social justice.
The Regional Field Coordinator is the face of Texas Rising in El Paso - working to advance and grow our network of activists and organizers. The primary responsibilities of a Regional Field Coordinator include recruiting, training, and managing teams of college-age students on area campuses to build grassroots power and implement civic engagement and issue-based advocacy campaigns. The Regional Field Coordinator will also be responsible for leading our voter registration and engagement program in the region.
This is a grant-funded position, with guaranteed funding for at least 12months. For the first 4 months, this position will be focused on conducting a campaign to encourage members of the El Paso community to receive the COVID-19 vaccination and will pair that work with voter contact and Texas Rising student chapter building.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Developing a plan to organize their region based on its unique characteristics for grassroots electoral and issue-advocacy campaigns
Coordinating TX Rising student chapters on targeted campuses in El Paso, which includes managing volunteers and stipended student leaders
Planning and implementing voter engagement campaigns which include voter registration, voter education, and Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts (phone banking, text outreach, and block walking)
Management of part-time staff dedicated to COVID-19 vaccination and voter outreach, inclusive of canvassing, phone banking, and text banking in addition to hosting COVID-19 vaccination outreach events in person every month
Developing and maintaining relationships with partner organizations and allies and serving as TX Rising representative at events & meetings, including public speaking engagements
Planning, coordinating logistics, and building participation for TX Rising events
Preparing and leading youth advocacy and organizing trainings
Implementing issue advocacy campaigns related to issues such as COVID-19 vaccination outreach, voting rights, access to birth control and abortion, LGBTQ+ equality, criminal justice reform, immigration, and climate justice.
Occasional travel to TX Rising events throughout the state*
Extensive travel and sometimes working long and/or irregular hours are required.
*Because this position requires vaccination outreach, this position will require public, in-person activities
Qualifications and Skills
Must live in, or be willing to relocate to, El Paso
Applicants must be well organized, resourceful and persistent
Ideal candidates will be able to bring young people, with a focus on young people of color, together and motivate them to get involved in the political process.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate a commitment to the progressive values, mission and goals of the organization
Must be highly motivated self-starters who are able to work independently and lead a team
Ability to incorporate digital organizing in their everyday work is preferred.
Have an entrepreneurial spirit and the capacity to build and implement a plan for the region
Spanish fluency is preferred.
Experience in volunteer, staff, or campaign management is preferred.
Benefits
Salary range: $45,000 - 55,000 (depending on experience)
