The Texas Freedom Network (TFN) seeks a part-time Reproductive Freedom Congregation Organizer (RFCO) based in Texas for its Just Texas program. TFN is a statewide non-partisan, grassroots organization that is building an informed and effective movement working toward equality and social justice. Just Texas is a program of TFN that engages progressive faith voices in public policy to formulate and advocate a faith-based response to the religious right’s policy agenda.
The RFCO will focus on strengthening the Reproductive Freedom Congregation initiative, a movement to eradicate stigma around abortion and reproductive freedom in Texas one congregation at a time. This is a part-time position working an average of 20-25 hours per week. The primary responsibilities of the RFCO will be to build and maintain relationships with our growing network of Reproductive Freedom Congregations, data gathering and collection, and Just Texas outreach support. The RFCO should be passionate about reproductive justice, religious freedom, and faith-based organizing. The RFCO will report directly to the Organizing Director and assist the Just Texas Manager. This is a predominantly remote position, with an expectation of local travel within their city (region) when applicable.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Maintain proactive, regular communication with the Organizing Director and Just Texas Manager

Cultivate, nurture and maintain relationships with congregations involved in the Reproductive Freedom Congregation initiative

Plan and lead regular virtual meetings with Reproductive Freedom Congregations

Assist Just Texas Manager in introductory Reproductive Freedom Congregation outreach, either virtually or within the region

Help build tools to increase participation and growth of Just Texas’ Reproductive Freedom Congregation initiative

Perform data collection and information gathering

Support Just Texas Manager at Reproductive Freedom Congregation events within the region

Represent Just Texas at issue area related events within the region

Assist in the creation of materials to be shared with prospective and current Reproductive Freedom Congregations
Qualifications and Skills

Ability to work well with a team, take direction and feedback, and share skills and knowledge

Ability to work with minimal supervision; self-motivated
-
Ability to work 4-6 hours a day for 4-5 days per week

Must have access to a laptop, smartphone, and reliable transportation

Previous experience or comfortability with faith-based organizing, or work in communities of faith

Previous experience in reproductive freedom advocacy preferred

Strong facilitation skills

Must have strong interpersonal skills, experience meeting deadlines, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Must be passionate for LGBTQ+ equality, reproductive justice, religious freedom, and interfaith movements for justice

Fluency in another language is highly valued, but not required

Must live in Texas, with the ability to travel within the region as needed

Experience in seminary school or involvement with a congregation is valued, but not required
