Data Engineer


MoreCommerce is looking for a Data Engineer to join their team.  As a Data Engineer you will be responsible for the development and support of our core data infrastructure, reporting and visualization tools, and ETL processes. You'll help us organize the data we have today, but you'll also create processes and monitoring for data quality, data management and ensure that data can be trusted and widely used. In this role you'll be the champion of our data, working in tandem with our Operational and Marketing teams to assure that we have the right data at the right time to support our business needs. All of this in support of our “single source of truth” and continuing our progression up the analytics maturity curve towards pervasive predictive and prescriptive analytics.

 

What You Will Do

  • Own the data pipelines that support standard views needed across the organization

  • Collaborate with the Business Operations, Development, and Infrastructure teams on integration efforts between systems that impact data and reporting

  • Lead the development of data delivery processes to enable self-service analytics and reporting across the organization

  • Build and maintain complex data sets that meet reporting and analytics requirements from business stakeholders

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

  • Develop protocols and manage the data governance process to promote data standards, data quality & data security 

  • Be available to respond to queries from marketing, operational teams, and/or the executive team regarding data and reporting needs

Desired Skills and Experience

Who You Are

  • You have DOMO experience and some might say you're a DOMO expert.

  • Extensive experience in data reporting, data warehouse modeling, and ETL processes

  • DBA experience in MySQL, SQL Server and/or MongoDB

  • You have development experience in your career and enjoy coding

  • A self-starter able to handle the prioritization of multiple projects and tasks under time-bound deadlines

  • You have a detailed understanding and experience with structured/unstructured database environments and large data sets

  • Strong communication skills. We’re moving fast and you’re expected to be able to reliably keep all internal and external parties up to date

  • Collaborative in nature, with a willingness to learn and coach

  • Sharp, motivated, driven, yet humble

  • BS in Computer Science, Analytics, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or equivalent experience and certifications
