About the role:

We are currently seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team. The Systems Administrator must have a knowledge of computer software, hardware, and networks. They will be responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, and supporting our company’s computer systems. Daily tasks may include installing, upgrading and monitoring software and hardware. The Systems Administrator will maintain the essentials such as operating systems, business applications, security tools, email, laptop, and desktop PCs.

A successful candidate creates policies to improve workflows and minimize points of friction. An understanding of technical processes and day-to-day issues within the department is needed for this role. The candidate will conduct their work with a sense of urgency, champions change, delivers complete solutions, and holds self and team accountable for performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced technical support for server-based systems, hosted applications, and their environment
  • Provide advanced technical support for VMware and shared storage environments
  • Provide intermediate support for data network, including configuration, performance, and security
  • Ensure uptime and stability of all server-based systems
  • Ensures change control and other processes and procedures are followed, and that configuration documentation is completed when systems are deployed or modified
  • Responsible for engaging and managing vendor escalations, as required
  • Provides timely and clear communications to the client and the other members of the technical team
  • Performs project assessments, scoping and project outlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate clearly with individual computing users on all levels – in small groups, one on one and in writing
  • Ability to focus on detailed work for extended periods of time
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver multiple assignment on time and maintain an efficient/timely daily work schedule
  • The ability to effectively document technical work
  • Effective both independently and as a member of a team


Position Requirements:  

  • Advanced understanding of virtualization concepts and functional working skills with virtualization technologies (create/modify virtual machines, create storage groups, snapshot, clone/export, etc.) using VMware, ESXI, and vSphe
  • Advanced knowledge of Server Hardware configuration, support and troubleshooting
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows, Linux, SQL, and scripting
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP networking (DNS, DHCP, VPN)
  • Intermediate knowledge of shared storage concepts and functional working skills with various shared storage technologies (provisioning LUNs, expanding volumes, configuring RAID, etc.)
  • Intermediate knowledge of network concepts and functional working skills with various network technologies (create vLAN, diagnose routing problems, configure ports, etc.)

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • 2-5 years of experience in Information Technology support
