Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and dynamic Learning and Development Director to join our growing personal injury law firm. In this key role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the firm's paralegal training and professional development programs. Your efforts will ensure our paralegal team is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to provide exceptional support to our attorneys and deliver outstanding service to our clients. This is a leadership position, requiring a blend of legal expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for fostering continuous learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training Program Development: Create, develop, and implement comprehensive paralegal training programs covering a variety of topics, including legal research, case management, trial preparation, client communication, and the specific needs of personal injury law.
  • Onboarding and Orientation: Lead the onboarding process for new paralegals, ensuring they receive proper training in firm policies, procedures, and software tools. Develop resources to ease the transition into the firm's workflow and culture.
  • Ongoing Education: Design and deliver continuous professional development opportunities for existing paralegals, including workshops, seminars, and training sessions. Foster a culture of lifelong learning and ensure the team stays up-to-date on changes in personal injury law, legal technology, and industry best practices.
  • Skill Development: Identify skill gaps and provide tailored coaching and development plans for individual paralegals. Track progress and ensure improvement in key areas like client communication, case management, legal writing, and document preparation.
  • Performance Evaluation: Work closely with paralegal managers to develop performance evaluation criteria and assist in regular assessments of paralegal performance. Provide feedback, coaching, and recommendations for growth opportunities.
  • Knowledge Management: Collaborate with attorneys and other staff to create a central repository of legal resources, templates, checklists, and procedural guides that will help the paralegal team streamline workflows and stay consistent with best practices.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Provide mentorship and foster a supportive and collaborative work environment. Act as a trusted resource for questions and concerns related to legal procedures and professional development.
  • Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all training programs comply with state and federal regulations, including ethical guidelines, confidentiality standards, and legal practice rules. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the legal industry’s evolving standards.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Monitor the effectiveness of training programs through surveys, feedback, and performance outcomes. Report regularly to senior leadership on training progress, team development, and any areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a paralegal, with at least 2 years in a leadership or training capacity within a personal injury law firm or similar legal environment. Experience in developing and delivering training programs is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of personal injury law, litigation processes, case management, and the role of a paralegal within a law firm. Familiarity with legal technologies, case management software, and document management systems is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
