Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Consumer Personal Injury Attorney with expertise in handling cases related to natural disasters. This role focuses on representing individuals who have sustained injuries or property damage due to catastrophic events such as hurricanes, wildfires, floods, earthquakes, and other natural calamities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in personal injury law, disaster response, and a deep understanding of the legal challenges that arise in the aftermath of natural disasters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in personal injury cases resulting from natural disasters, including but not limited to injuries caused by falling debris, flooding, defective building materials, and transportation accidents during or after such events.
- Investigate and evaluate claims related to natural disasters, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working with experts in fields such as meteorology, construction, and disaster response.
- Advocate for clients in negotiations, settlements, and trials, ensuring their rights are protected and they receive the compensation they deserve.
- Provide legal counsel and support to clients navigating insurance claims, FEMA assistance, and other disaster recovery processes.
- Stay informed about federal, state, and local laws related to disaster relief, emergency response, and consumer protection.
- Work closely with experts, including engineers, medical professionals, and environmental scientists, to build strong cases and identify liability.
- Collaborate with insurance companies, government agencies, and other stakeholders to secure fair outcomes for clients.
- Prepare legal documents, including complaints, motions, discovery requests, and trial exhibits.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of legal precedents, regulations, and industry trends related to personal injury and disaster law.
- Offer empathetic client service, understanding the emotional and physical toll natural disasters have on individuals and families.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law, with the ability to represent clients in both state and federal courts.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in personal injury law, with at least 1 year focusing on cases related to natural disasters or catastrophic events.
- Proven track record of success in personal injury litigation, including negotiating settlements and handling complex trials.
- Strong understanding of insurance law, liability issues, and the unique challenges posed by natural disaster-related injuries and property damage.
- Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in an accessible manner.
- Compassionate, client-focused, and able to handle sensitive matters with empathy and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, often high-pressure environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
