To support our growing practice, we are seeking a Staff Accountant I who will play a vital role in managing the firm's financial operations with accuracy, integrity, and efficiency.
Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for daily accounting functions, supporting the financial operations of the company, reviewing case costs, and timely payments of invoices. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in law firm accounting or professional services and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. This role requires a keen eye for details, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting & Bookkeeping:
- Record and reconcile daily financial transactions.
- Review, verify, and process invoices for accuracy and proper authorization.
- Ensure timely payments to avoid late fees and maintain vendor relationships.
- Manage vendor setup and maintain updated records, including W-9 forms.
- Monitor AMEX transaction, reconcile AMEX billing statements with internal financial records.
- Resolve discrepancies with vendors or internal teams in a timely manner.
- Process case expenses and reconciliations.
Compliance & Internal Codes:
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, firm policies, and legal ethics rules.
Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and case managers to track case-related expenses.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of accounting experience (law firm or professional services preferred).
- Bilingual. Ability to read, write, speak both English and Spanish.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and accounting software (experience with law firm software is a plus).
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills to interact effectively with vendors and team members.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday - 8am - 5pm
