Position

 

The Construction Manager/Project Manager will report directly to Managing Director, Design and Construction, SteelWave CDS. The primary responsibilities will be management of shell renovations and tenant improvements in Northern California.

Responsibilities

 

·         Oversee and direct construction projects from inception to completion on a wide variety of projects from renovating building shells to tenant improvements and large-scale capital improvement projects

·         Prepare and review cost estimates and deliverables

·         Coordinate preconstruction team to facilitate timely and accurate definition of scope, schedule, and cost

·         Establish and maintain construction resources capable of providing high value and efficient work product

·         Supervise construction team to assure on time and on budget project completion

 

Requirements & Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree with 7-10 years of experience in the life sciences industry as a project manager for a general contractor preferred.  Candidate must have experience and skills with a thorough understanding of life sciences facilities, processes, equipment, and MEP systems. In addition to knowledge of commercial construction means and methods, the candidate should have experience with Life Sciences Research and Development, and R&D tenant improvements.  Solid subcontractor relationships are essential. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills in addition to demonstrated commitment to customer service, supervision, estimating, safety, and quality.    OSHA training preferred (10-Hour minimum).     

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This candidate will supervise a construction team, as well as have oversite of contractors, subcontractors and vendors performing work.
