ORGANIZATION

Through arts, immersive play and real-world action, we guide children and youth to recognize injustice and possibility within their communities and beyond, and to take meaningful, collaborative and collective action to create a better future. ShareWell is comprised of two main initiatives: the Cayton Children’s Museum and youTHink, an innovative youth development program. 

Job description 

Museum Ambassadors guide museum programs and are responsible for general care of museum visitors and galleries during public hours and private events

 

 

Responsibilities:

Act as the Museum host by welcoming guests, managing ticket and retail sales, promoting memberships, assisting with general questions and needs, and addressing, documenting and/or reporting to the Visitor Experience Manager any guest comments, problems or concerns.

 

Ensure safe and engaging play for all our visitors by guiding creative activities, explaining the rules and gently steering the participants towards learning-oriented, all-inclusive, and education-based play.

 

Facilitate public and private programs as directed by Visitor Experience Manager.

 

Be knowledgeable about Museum programs, exhibits and events, and are responsive and ready to share these with visiting families.

 

Check on the upkeep of exhibits and facilities to ensure they are always in perfect condition, enabling safe and fun play for visitors. Any concerns are immediately reported

 

Maintain visibility, friendliness, and approachability on the museum floor, museum lobby, and museum shop, as well as in all public-facing areas of the Museum.

 

In addition to all specific duties referenced above, Museum Ambassadors shall also perform any and all additional tasks as deemed necessary by the Visitor Experience Manager.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Team player with a professional, positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Background in one or more of the following areas encouraged: customer service, hospitality, movement, music, storytelling, visual arts, health, STEAM, ropes/challenge course elements and team building
  • Experience teaching or leading participatory experiences for children 0-12 years a plus
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, highly sensory environment
  • An interest in play-based learning and the Cayton mission of Playing Our Way To A Better World
  • CPR Certification preferred (can be trained on site if not previously certified)
  • Fluency in (spoken) Spanish preferred
  • Weekday, Weekend and Holiday availability required

 

REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 18 years or older.  Must pass background check. 

The person in this position must be able to:

  • Move around an office and museum spaces to access cabinets, office machinery, etc. Lift up to 20 lbs. 
  • Must have the ability to walk, stand, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, sit, run, talk and hear
  • Make substantial movements (motions) of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
