InstaBuilt North America provides innovative housing solutions utilizing off-site construction technology. We need an inquisitive licensed Structural Engineer who will develop structural solutions for our products. The Structural Engineer shall be detail-oriented, creative, and possess amazing problem-solving skills. This role will coordinate with our manufacturing and installation teams, designing and planning project details in the office as well as on-site where technical advice may be needed during installation.

The Structural Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, documenting and coordination of the information needed to ensure the safety and physical integrity of our buildings and other structures. Our housing solutions cover a broad spectrum of product types from single family homes to multifamily and hospitality, so this will require an engineer who is willing to be flexible, hands-on, creative, and determined to provide novel solutions.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide, oversee and stamp documentation for regulatory approval.
  • Collaborate with product engineers to produce design development (DD), construction documents (CD), and shop drawings required for state & local permitting. Verify that building codes are addressed at both state and local levels.
  • Collaborate with the various teams to improve the efficiency of our product through Value Engineering analysis
  • Prepare reports, designs, and drawings.
  • Make calculations about pressures, loads, and stresses.
  • Consider the strength of construction materials and select appropriately.
  • Use computer-aided design technology for simulation purposes.
  • Analyze configurations of the basic components of a structure.
  • Provide technical advice on safe designs and construction.
  • Monitor and inspect all on-site construction processes/work to ensure structural soundness.
  • Track and report on project progress.
  • Liaise with professional staff and contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of building systems, construction methods and materials. and regulations.
  • Track record of work in a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, and project managers to streamline the design, planning, and permitting process.
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills with the ability to listen and solve complex problems
  • Ability to analyze inefficiencies and problems; identify root causes and provide effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with staff at various organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment; excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and analyze CAD models, architectural, structural, mechanical drawings, and specifications.
  • Deep knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD or BIM tools. Proven experience in structural document production and team coordination.
  • Ability to develop, communicate, and manage the workflow from early-stage project planning through construction documentation.
  • Experience with design/build, modular or panelized building systems is a plus.
  • Experience in real estate or construction is a plus.
  • Versed with common workplace software (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)
  • Applicant must be authorized to legally work in the U.S. No sponsorship is available.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering
  • 5+ years of work experience as a Structural Engineer
  • Active Professional Engineer’s License in the State of Texas; licensed in other states is a plus.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
