Stella Domo, LLC is a startup prefab company in the Austin area. We are looking for an energetic Revit junior designer who doesn’t mind wearing multiple hats. Experienced in handling a wide range of architectural design related tasks and able to work independently. Well organized, flexible, and proactive in their tasks. The junior designer will support the licensed architect to create 3D, 2D, permitting, design, and technical shop drawings. AXP hours possible.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Use Revit, AutoCAD, and/or relevant software to create 3D, 2D scalable detailed drawings of buildings, interiors, objects, materials, and assemblies

  • Draw plans for foundations, buildings, and structures based on instructions provided by engineers and architects

  • Coordinate and organize information from consultants, regulators, and vendors to produce design development (DD), construction documents (CD), and shop drawings required for state & local permitting

  • Help verify that building codes are addressed at both state and local levels

  • Keep extremely organized historical records of drawings and various documents of projects

  • Print and provide technical drawing sheets, product specification sheets, product warranty information or any other data for all teams as needed for design, purchasing, production, or sales

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

  • Extensive knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD software and other architectural drafting tools. 3D-rendering a plus

  • Strong knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and materials

  • Able to understand and research building codes and regulations and to determine how they will affect designs and assemblies

  • Able to understand and interpret architect’s redline markups and directions on a set of drawings

  • Able to read and analyze CAD models, architectural and mechanical drawings, consultants’ drawings, and specifications

  • Able to understand and analyze various manufacturer product specifications to integrate into design, and technical drawings. i.e. does this water heater fit inside of this cabinet? Do I have all the required clearances accounted for? Where are the connections? What other accessories goes with it?

  • Able to research and suggest highly vetted technical solutions to complex design and manufacturing problems, including specifications for building parts, materials and methods. i.e. This cabinet door seems to precarious for standard hinge hardware, how else can I make this design work? Is there another kind of hinge I can use? Should I suggest a change in the design?

  • Curious, creative, inquisitive, and team-oriented

  • Extremely organized and process oriented

  • Able to follow through on requests, be persistent. i.e. I need you to call the engineer and ask for a copy of a soils report. If they don’t get back to you, keep following up until you have it

  • Assure security, integrity and confidentiality of projects

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. i.e. you can contact a manufacturer and ask about details of a product that are not found on the website

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Flexible and adaptable in various situations and when interacting with many different personalities

  • Ability to work independently (self-motivated) and reliably even on boring things as well as the challenging difficult tasks

  • Applicant must be authorized to legally work in the U.S. No sponsorship is available

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Three years of architectural, mechanical, or technical drafting workplace experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering or Structural Engineering a plus

  • Past experience with startup environment or manufacturing space can be an advantage

  • Hands-on construction/manufacturing experience a plus.
